Herbal Coffee Anyone?
« on: August 13, 2010, 09:51:21 AM »
I have just quit coffee and have been looking at herbal substitutes such as Teecino which contains things like chicory root, inulin, carob etc. which I can have with some cream without any caffeine for about 2-3 carbs.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this and if so, how does it taste.

thx, nic

I did a lot of research on caffeine and apparantly it is not good if you are insulin resistant.  Caffeine was increasing my cravings and hunger and because I have a binge eating disorder I have to do everything to limit this.  Also, I have a pretty addictive personality so 1 coffee would lead to 2 coffee's etc.

I felt amazing when I drank coffee and it was a great dessert, but I want to see if I do better without it over the next month or so. If I can find an herbal replacement (www.teecino.com) with a few carbs that tastes the same it's probably a wise move.

My concern is carob is sugar and you are still in detox, so it could stall your weight loss.Chai is the same consistency and you can add cream and sweetener.Just trying to help :)

thank you Umpa.  I was looking at the carbs, but not the content and the ingredients include figs, barley, carob etc.

THANK YOU.

If I bought it I would have been having hidden sugars!

Just a thought -- If you want an alternative drink -- try UNSWEETENED Blue Almond (brand name)  Almond Milk !  I have learned to "replace" my skim milk with the unsweetened Almond Milk.  An added bonus is the add some Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup.  I also add ice cubes and make this drink really cold!
Enjoy!  Have a great day!   :D

I haven't added the stevia -- the Hershy syrup is satisfying enough for me!
