Hi, everyone!  I read Doug's book about 2 weeks ago.  I started on the plan about a week and a half ago.  After 5 days of eating 20 carbs a day, I had not lost one pound.  I wrote Doug and he suggested I try eating 0 carbs for a week.  That was one week and one day ago.  I stuck to it--although I did eat salads and spinach daily with meat, cheese and eggs.  I am 6 pounds lighter--however, it fills more like 10-15 pounds lighter.  My question is when do I add a few more carbs, such as peanut butter, or low carb totillas?  I love this quick weight loss and do not want to stop it, however, I know I will need a little more variety in food choices.  Thanks for your help.  Kathy

well 1st off if you ate eggs, salad, spinach, etc you didnt have 0 carbs, that being said i wonder if the 1st week you were actually at 20 carbs or less? you should be able to add the foods you suggested anytime... actually you should of been able to have them all along:) but you may want to count carbs in EVERYTHING that you are eating:) and dont forget portion size:) it seems to be an issue with alot of us when we 1st start out:( again that being said>>>> CONGRATS ON THE 6 LBS ;D dont forget how good you feel now:) you may need to reach back for that feeling in future weeks to come:)

Gary is correct Kathy, each egg is one carb, salads add up..sometimes 3-5 carbs per salad depending on the ingredients and quantity. Seems to me like you're now getting on track. I would stay the course and become an expert at seeing the hidden sugar in everything. Congrats on this weeks drop...proud of you  ;)

I've been tracking my net carbs on fatsecret.com if this helps.  It just gives me a better idea as to how much I am eating.

Hope this helps.

(The only problem is the values may be different... for instance I get 1 carb for 2 eggs on fatsecret)
