Scott in Florida - 9 weeks
« on: November 03, 2010, 01:05:08 PM »
Down another 5.8 pounds this past week.  And I haven't really been walking that much!  Sort of easing into it.  Total loss now is at 27.8.  Next week I get to see the 220s - haven't been there in a while!

Question for the group - I like to chew gum but am trying to get away from aspartame.  What chewing gum is not sweetened with aspartame?

You can find chewing gum made with xylitol in health stores. They are under different names, though. They are good for your teeth and gums. One brand is called Xyli-chew.

The sweetener is sorbitol and there is "less than 2% of: ....aspartame..."

I have a pack right here in my desk.

Umpa, they are calling for possible flurries where I am. I read that it could be 3 to 6 inches on 441 near Newfound Gap tomorrow. Our elevation is about 1500 ft I think, and they say it will be worse in elevations over 3000 ft.

Thanks everyone!  Umpa, Doug and I have the same choice in gum - I only chew Extra (Polar Ice flavor).  I buy it at Sams Club by the 10-pack.  But I recently started to cut back a lot on aspartame, and I saw that it is in there.  Is it Doug's opinion that there isn't enough there to be a problem?

I have always drank Diet Coke also, and have continued to do so even after being on FtS eating.  Doesn't seem to affect my weight loss.  But I read an article about Glenn Beck having vision problems, and someone told him to stop drinking Diet Coke.  So now I drink the Diet Coke flavored with Splenda.  Doesn't taste quite the same, but close enough.

Hey I chew Extra Polar Ice too!
It is the best tasting longest lasting gum around.

It sure is!  Everyone once in a while I will try something else, but I always come back to Polar Ice.

We haven't gotten any snow yet, but we may get flurries this afternoon.
