Tortilla Wraps...too good to be true?
« on: November 09, 2010, 08:53:32 PM »
Tonight while grocery shopping, I found "Ole Mexican Foods Xtreme Wellness"  high fiber/low carb tortilla wraps.  The nutritional information really seems too good to be true...??  I tried one when I got home, and it was great!  Has anyone tried these?  I found them at Ingles Grocery Store.

Here's the breakdown:
Serving size: 1 tortilla
Total carbs: 5g
Dietary Figer: 12g
Sugar: 0g

I laughed when I saw the fiber count.  So....could I just count this as 0 carbs or -7 ??

No it has 5 grams carb. I tried this same brand and asked Doug the same question the 5 carbs is after the fiber has been subtracted.

Ok thanks Beebs!  I just KNEW it couldn't be for real!  I used one last night to make a pizza.....glad now that I had carbs to spare, otherwise I would have gone over.

Thanks for the info!

I found those also and bought the Tomato & Basil.  I used those for wraps and quesidillas for my family (you know, all of those thin people I live with), but didn't tell them that they might be slightly healthy as compared to the white flour ones they ususally eat.  I still ate my LaTortillas so they didn't think anything of it.  I am slowly converting them over.  I did eat them a few times for lunch, but just used half (2.5 net carbs) and put my tuna, cucumbers and lettuce on it.

Yeah, now that I have a whole pack of them....I will use them sparingly counting them as 5 carbs each.  Today, I got a whopper from Burger King without the bun & ketchup.  I wrapped it in one of the tortillas & pretended it was a real whopper.  ha ha   Not bad!

Beebs, the swear checker got you.  Shih Tzu, not spelled the other way.  Maybe I should change my name.  Any suggestions?
