weather event
« on: January 10, 2011, 11:25:24 AM »
Well, times like this is when it's a good thing to learn to be prepared in advance. We are on day one of our "weather event" as our emergency management people call it. Our snow started at midnight and by 9 a.m. we had nearly a foot. They expect it to continue snowing today and tomorrow, with ice forming overnight. The temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing all week. Our national guard has been put on alert and they have told us to have jugs and tubs of water on hand just in case we lose power. FUN WEEK ahead of us.

Keep the hot SF cocoa flowing!  ;D ;D ;D

In the winter of 2008, we had a huge storm followed by almost 3 feet of snow and ice.
The storm knocked out the power to our "all electric" home and we lived in the dark for 7 full days.
Fortunately, we were prepared and managed along.

I hope you don't lose power during this event.
No matter how prepared you are, it's a real bummer to live without it!  :(
What you do today is what matters!

We have snow down here in Georgia too!  It came Sunday night and then we got the freezing rain on top.  The roads are STILL covered in ice with schools and businesses closed.  I was prepared and had FTS things to eat.  I made chicken salad, sausage balls, 7 layer salad, and ANOTHER chocolate cheesecake!  I am really just pretending it's Christmas all over again!  :)

Oh, Maddysmom, it's a good thing I can't get over the mountain to get some of that chocolate cheesecake because you wouldn't have any left for your family! :)

Well I only had a half box of Baker's chocolate (4 oz.), so this cheesecake was more of a light mocha color...still yummy! I put 1 1/2 boxes in the one I made at Christmas...(12 oz!  ha ha)  I really LOVE dark chocolate.   Girl, I WISH we could have got together!!  I miss you.....
