Given up, or living longer?
« on: January 17, 2011, 12:52:04 PM »
Good morning all! Well, so far, I have lost 7lbs.! and it feels like I've done virtually nothing! I have gone from drinking sodas, tea and coffee, to just water! I never in a million yearssss thought "I" could give up "caffine." But I have! and I feel sooo much better! It's funny, Umpa said, once the weight starts coming off, it'll keep coming off! and I have added, just a little excercise program to break up the day ;DBut, I am sooo...thrilled! Even just the 7lbs. lost, is way better than 7more lbs. gained! Once you see it working, you'll try even harder to keep it off!
Thank you so much Doug and Umpa!!

p.s.-
Was just wondering, is muscle crampness one of the side effects/withdraws?? Omg! My arms and my leg muscles tend to tighten up!

Congrats on the weight loss and the new commitment towards life! I'm not sure where the cramps are coming from. My first guess would have been water but you're drinking plenty right?? Are you taking a multi vitamin?

Not on a regular basis? Guess I should throw one in! (could be cause it's only 32 degrees and freezing?  my body's in shutdown mode? hahaha...)

7lbs. Is AMAZING !  I like to equate it this way... Try carrying around a 7lb bag of rocks for a day and see how amazing it feels to put it down !!  That's ALOT of weight off your body !!  I'm down 10 so I'm picturing  holding a 5lb bag of rocks in each hand  :o    Giving up Tea, Coffee, Soda is a big step, not sure about the cramps, I know for myself I get headachy if I go cold turkey on caffeine so I have one cup in the AM. Also  I found a great soda to ween me off  Pepsi or Coke called Diet Rite Pure Zero Cola , 12 oz. can has 0 Cal. 0 Carbs. 0 Sodium...Also found flavored selzer waters like lime, cranberry lime, etc.  are a nice alternative to plain water.  Wishing you more success !  You certainly are off to a great start

Thanks Bella:-)!! But for me, I am such a sweets freak! lol...I find cold turkey is the best! Get it out of my system, quick and easy and I'm done! lol...The very hardest part is going past the dreaded "candy" isle at the grocery store! and the chip isle!!! lol...I can just walk by and smell the sugar! lol...That's why I don't get it when we go to the store! Cause if ya don't buy it, ya don't eat it! I have gotten addicted to celery? and eat that in the afternoons, between lunch and dinner is the worst for me! We picked up a pre-made snack tray, that has celery, carrot sticks, and small tomatoes in it!
That's the one thing I love about living in a small rural town! You usually don't have a lot of options! As far as the sweets and the ones they have are, of course WAY over priced! So we have been very good about that! No sweat now!

Hey I can think of worse things to be addicted to than celery ! Keep in mind 2 stalks is 1.5 carbs ... Just started out so  I'm sticking to the veggies in Dougs book untill I reach my goal ( which doesn't include carrots) I'm not sure what the carbs are but it must be on the high side for them not to be listed and 1 small tomato is 3 carbs so be careful on the veggies trays...It sure does'nt take long to reach 20 carbs a day if I'm not mindful...Although making up a 0 carb platter was easier than I thought with the help of suggestions from Umpa ( Dougs Wife)   0 carb deviled eggs, string cheese, sharp cheddar, sliced roast beef, turkey,( no glaze ) ham...Easy 0 carb pickens at my finger tips when needed

Never thought of deviled eggs? We all LOVE deviled eggs! Thought they'd be bad for ya? Will have to thumb through the recipe section again! Thanks for the suggestions!
