How much water?
« on: February 26, 2011, 10:02:45 PM »
The question of how much water is enough has been raised over and over. We hear many different answers. Some say 8 cups a day. Others say to divide your weight by 2 and drink that many ounces. Here is a neat calculator of how much water you need to drink:

Wow, according to this my 64 oz. per day is not enough.  It said between 72 & 88 oz. depending how I answered the question: is it extremely hot or cold where I live.

I'm not so sure about the accuracy of the calculator used at the link:
http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm

It recommends that I drink 132.5 ounces of water today, or 4 liters.
That's 4.5 oz. over 1 GALLON of water a day!!!  :o :o :o
If I provided "summertime" responses when I'm far more active and outdoors, it suggests almost half a gallon more!!! :o :o :o

The last time I drank a gallon of water a day, was by doctor's advice after surgery for kidney stones back in 1998.
During that time, I was in the bathroom more than any other room in the house.
It was VERY uncomfortable ingesting that much water every day during a sedentary recovery period.

My doc advises about 64 oz. per day when not very active.
And up to a gallon when very active during warm/hot weather periods.
What you do today is what matters!
