Still detoxing but it isn't too bad.  I already have more energy but I am looking forward to having even more after my second week.

Mimzy!   Look at you go!  9lbs the first week...  Three Cheers!

I also had a rough detox.  Headaches at first, then the dizzyness and I had a few shakes around day 3.  Looking back on that first week, I cannot believe my body had to literally detox from sugar to the point that I had a physical reaction.  Sunday started my 3rd week and it is today that I feel so energetic!  I'm heading to the treadmill for a walk (it's 17 degrees here today! I have to walk indoors).

Keep up the good work. You will feel great and look great in no time!

Thank you everyone for all the kudos.  I am so excited about this new life style! :D
It is very nice to find a group of people who are all so kind and helpful.

Speaking of helpful, I need some suggestions please.  I just found out I am going on a trip on the 20th,  I will be having to eat out in restaurants and fast food places, as well as doing a lot of exploring in the deserts where I won't have access to those places.  I need ideas of things I can eat that won't require refrigeration or preparation.  I am sure I will have a small ice chest but that will be it.  I don't want to lose the ground I have gained.

Thank you in advance for your help and consideration,

Mimzy  ;)

I would think chese sticks ,almonds/nuts ,I have found the EAS carb control protein bars only the peanut butter one does not raise my type 1 sons sugar and it is 2-3 carbs for the whole bar . I get them at Publix . Becareful because there are 2 types of those bars it has to say carb control and it is in a silver package .

I am not sure what else that would keep like boiled eggs if you can kep them in a ice chest those would be good .

I eat out at least once everyday. At restaurants just order what you want, they are great at making it for you. I think the hardest part was getting over being embarrassed of ordering special, but once you do it a million times it becomes no big deal. Also, have you tried the Josephs Flax seed pitas? I love these and keep one in a sandwich baggie in my purse. There are only three carbs in a whole pita and you can replace bread with it, stuff it with tuna or do a million other fun things. I also keep pumpkin seeds with me and (yes I really do this) if I know I'm going to have a salad I bring my walden farms blue cheese dressing. Yes, I have a huge purse but this is my life and I am not adding 5 carbs to a salad if I don't have to. My last secret weapon is sugar free gum, I love it! I buy a thing of the dentyne ice or whatever you like, and keep it with you. It comes in really handy when people (namely my husband) decide to eat chocolate, twizzlers or peanut butter cups around me. Just pop one in my mouth and I feel like I'm getting a treat too. They would be great on a trip too!

Okay I'm rambling but I hope I gave you some suggestions and CONGRATULATIONS on a great first week!

Hi Mimzy!  :)

Sherri is right about restaurants.
My wife and I have found that they all want to please their customers and will be glad to help you keep the carbs to a minimum.
DON'T be afraid to ask for special orders!!!

As for easy snacks...
Pepperoni sticks (Oberto brand is 0 net carbs) and sting cheese individually wrapped.
These two go very well together for satisfying high protein low carb snacks.
What you do today is what matters!
