Hi everyone
« on: March 10, 2011, 07:52:00 PM »
Hi A friend joined and recommended this group to me. I had gastric bypass about 5 yrs ago. I had lost about 125 pounds but have found 30 of it again. I want it to find a new home, this place sounds like the place to start. I am married to a wonderful military man for over 18 yrs and have 2 beautiful kids. I have a couple questions.

the big one is I can not use artificial sugars as they make me ill. I get bad headaches and other unpleasant reactions to them. I see a lot of the recipes use them, will this work for me anyway?

I am completely addicted to carbs and am afraid of carb withdrawal...is there an easy way to go from eating as many as I do to eating so few a day nicely without the withdrawal?

Thanx

Yes you can do it ,We have all done it ! You will have withdrawls ,sugar detox . We were all addicted to sugar /carbs .
I felt better after day 3 it gets better as everyday passes and I had no cravings for carbs after 2 weeks !   You will be amazed at how good you feel after a couple of weeks with no carbs/sugar .

Welcome and Good Luck .

Welcome to the Fat to Skinny forum wendyg73.  Not everyone has headaches etc. during sugar detox.  I am one of the fortunate ones that did not have any symptoms.  Some people just have a slight headache.  Once you have the sugar out of your system you will be surprised at how easy this is and how great you feel.  Good luck with your journey.

Welcome to the family, wendyg73! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Some of the most supportive people on the planet are here.

We're one big family with two common goals:
(1) Get rid of the FAT that has been plaguing us for years, and
(2) to help one another in that effort.

The unpleasant side effects of eating low carb that you describe ("sugar detox") are VERY common to most ALL of us.
Not only did I have awful headaches but my gut was causing me a lot of grief too.
These symptoms pass within a couple of weeks (some quicker and some a bit slower).

When you get past detox, you will feel so much better than you did before you started.
And, cravings for high carb foods and sweets will all but disappear.

So hang in there Wendy!
We're here to help you every step of the way!
What you do today is what matters!

Welcome to the FTS family Wendy!!! I had a headache for about a week...not a migraine...but a pretty bad headache for a week during detox/withdrawal! I have to say that I used to have chronic headaches...but since I finished my detox I haven't had a headache!!! It's amazing the things that are tied to carbs!!! You can do it...I know you can!!!
