3.14 = pi
« on: March 14, 2011, 01:03:28 PM »
So, today is pi day - 3.14/March 14 and we're having pie all day in every one of my math classes. No big deal. I came prepared with my crustless quiche in case of emergency. We've had peanut butter pies, chocolate pies, apple pies, pumpkin pies, cookie pies.... Nothing tempted me at all...until....

"Please send Kendra to the office." She came back with warm freshly made fried apple pies (hand held, like a turnover) that her grandma had just made this morning. They were individually wrapped, so soft, so warm, and I had to hand them out and smell them. I was tempted, so tempted... BUT.... I took them to the science teacher's room and told the kids in my math class that's where they could eat seconds of the leftovers. OMG, I was so close to eating one. It was like the devil on one shoulder and Doug on the other one! Doug, you won!!!!

Good for you, owensmath!  :) :) :)

One temptation that is very difficult to fend off involves the aroma of freshly baked pastries and pies.

When I'm not hungry (99% of the time), they don't bother me much.
But when hungry, I can fight off the urge but it's VERY tough.

This is another reason why we must make sure we DO NOT allow ourselves to EVER become hungry.
You never know when temptation will strike at that moment of weakness!
What you do today is what matters!

Thanks, Umpa. Right now (on this two month long plateau), I don't feel so amazing. But, I'm hanging on and staying true because I know it will eventually start dropping again. I've been bouncing around in this 5 pound range since December...oh dear, it's three months now...CRUD!!!!!!!
