Converted my Mother-in-Law
« on: April 01, 2011, 10:08:12 AM »
My Mother-in-Law flew in for a visit 10 days ago and I hadn't told her anything about my weight loss. So when we picked her up at the airport she couldn't get over my change. She is older and heavy and has been trying to loose weight ever since I first met her. So over the first few days she noticed how I was eating and asked me about it. I gave her my copy of FTS and told her to read it. Not thinking she would do much more than look it over and move on, she proved me wrong.  She read that book all night long from cover to cover. The following morning she was ready to start. I gave her a quick run down on labels and what to look for. She ate what I did from then on, she said she's never eaten so healthy in her life. She enjoyed the broccoli and salads and really loved the pork rabbini my husband makes.

She left yesterday and in that short period of time lost five pounds!!!

I think we have another FTS lifer on our hands!   ;D ;D

That's great!  Nothing breeds success like success.  Pork rabbini?  Pray tell what is that?

I just love seeing your ticker ...

Hi Sherri! :)

You story about your mother-in-law makes a VERY important point...
We CANNOT force, coerce, or in any other way, make someone else change their life.
It's a decision that they MUST make for THEMSELVES!

By being an excellent example of how well someone can eat and lose their excess weight,
others will want to know how you do it.

My older son is not obese but is overweight and would like to lose the excess.
We have talked in passing about FTS. But he's only had lukewarm interest, at most.

Last weekend, he saw how much thinner I've become just since the holidays and asked;
"What are you doing to lose so much weight and look so much better?".
Naturally, I told him I have been doing what I was doing before the holidays... Living the FTS lifestyle.
He is excited to get started and has ordered Doug's Little Yellow Book.

I will be staying in touch with him and will "gently" encourage him along as he gets started.
He's not much for blogs and forums.
But I hope to get him involved as more questions arise.
What you do today is what matters!

This is wonderful SherriPie!  It is great that you just led by example and encouraged her without even trying!!  I wish her good luck with her journey!

Also congrats on your 171 lb. weight loss.  I can imagine how excited you are to see your goal just around the corner.  You are going to have an awesome summer!
