Feeling like a yo-yo
« on: June 10, 2011, 10:39:53 AM »
Hey all,

I'm not sure why, but my weight loss is bouncing around like a yo-yo. I only eat 12 - 16 carbs each day, I drink plenty of water, I even started walking on a regular basis last week with the kids' running club. I do eat a piece or 2 of the sf candy...either 0 or 1 carb (18-22sugar alcohols) daily...should probably cut those out...but my weight loss, each Friday when I officially weigh in, isn't going down! As a matter of fact I'm up a pound and a half from last week!!!

Any and all ideas, suggestions, and help would be wonderful! <sigh>
Love you guys! <3

Hi MommaB! :)

Don't focus so much on the scale!

When we lose weight, our actual weight will bounce around for a number of different reasons.
If we weighed ourselves as we were gaining weight, we would see the same thing!
It's quite normal... It's how our bodies work.
What matters is the change in weight over time.
If the trend is down, you're doing fine!

Also, take body measurements at least once a month.
You will often notice inches disappearing but not pounds on the scale.
This too is normal for many folks.

BTW, SF candy (like other SF treats) should be only eaten on an occasional basis... Not every day!
If you eat them too much or too often, they could slow your progress.
What you do today is what matters!

I hear you. If the scale makes you crazy, avoid it for awhile. Take measurements or dig through your closet and find something that's snug and keep trying it on. You're probably losing inches. And, if you've started exercising recently (especially after not doing so), then you could be adding muscle.

Tracking my food has been a big help to me. Some people write down everything they eat, but I could never get into that. I use FatSecret and it adds it all up for me. Otherwise, it sounds like you're doing everything correctly, unless carbs are sneaking in somewhere that you're not aware of. That's where FatSecret helps. At least for me.

Good luck! :)

Momma B that seems to be what I do the scale has drove me crazy since I started . I seem to lose and gain the same 2-3 pounds all month then I will drop 2 more it is  ery frustrating but if you know that you are doing FTS then we just have to keep on trucking .
Did you read that article Doug put on this morning ? We dont realize that alot of damage that we have done is on the inside and it has to fix all of that too .
Just stay off the scale  ;D
