Self esteem
« on: February 10, 2012, 09:24:07 AM »
I've learned long ago that weight loss is a 2 part process...it's the lifestyle change and the mental change. Even if in your heart you know that what you're doing is an amazing thing it can be hard to convince your head of that. Maybe I'm the only one but I know I have definitely had a hard time combatting the emotional toll that weight gain has taken on me. Soooo I guess me question is, does anyone have any tips on how to make yourself feel better without spending thousands on therapy? :) Trust me, my husband would love to figure out how to get me over my emotional outbursts  lol!

Hi NewMe11! :)

It's about believing in yourself and what you're doing.

Remember that your weight gain was due to eating too many carbs for too long... Its' that simple!

Past weight loss "failures" were due to unrealistic expectations from misinformation.
Being misinformed is NOT your fault! You were only doing what you thought would help you.
But after being deprived for a period of time, it's no surprise that you would not persevere.
Over the years, I came to know those "failures" quite well.

It has been established that we can form or break habits in 21 days.
So if you live the FTS lifestyle for 3 full weeks, you'll have established a healthy eating lifestyle.

Staying on track with it requires commitment and support.
Only you can provide the commitment.
We're here to provide the support. And we will stick with you as long as you stick with us.

Please remember that you are not alone!
We will always be here when you need us. :)

Tony
What you do today is what matters!

There are times I need to make myself count my blessings instead of my challenges.  "Self-esteem" comes from trying and succeeding but also from trying, failing and trying again.  You've found this lifestyle.  Look ahead, not back and give youself credit for making the changes you need to make for a better today and future.

I think we all struggle with this. Even with loosing 230 pounds I still see a fat girl in the mirror. Doug tells me it comes with time, so I'm waiting for that time. I do know that the friends I have made on this board are always there to push me through the tough times. Post around a bit on the boards and I think you'll see you've got a lot of friends here, in the same boat that would love to help you feel better and be behind you each step of the way as you lose the weight.
