low fat/low calorie obsession
« on: July 20, 2011, 01:57:03 PM »
There's this show called Cook Yourself Thin that comes on Lifetime and I'm just watching how these skinny ladies cook all this food which they say is low in calories and fat but the food is loaded with High Carbs and Sugar. It just really frustrates me when Thin people who never struggled with their weight try to tell others who have a weight problem how they should lose weight. I Really Hate it. It gets under my skin so much you just don't know. These were the kind of people I would listen to before I heard of Doug to try to lose the pounds but it always failed.

I went to the doctor the other day and my doctor noticed I lose alot weight since my last visit 6 months ago. So I lied to her and told her I was on a plateau and couldn't lose anymore weight, just to see what she would recommend for me to breakthough(Mind you I'm losing about 5 to 6 pounds a week on average). As usual the skinny Doctor recommended a low fat, low calorie diet full of fruit, starchy vegetables, high carb meals like Oatmeal, Cream of wheat and whole grain pasta and cereal. You know the foods that made me fat in the first place and she knows I have a family history of diabetes. I'm serious getting a new doctor. I'm done with her! If I had eaten her diet and meal plan I would gain all my weight back and then some This situation has made me mad for the last two days and I had to tell someone! I'm just in a bad mood!!(End of Rant)

Hi MichelleShani! :)

I fully understand your frustration with today's food and diet culture.
That's why it's important for us as individuals to take control of our own health.

Doctors are people we hire to take care of our physical bodies.
If the doctor is not getting the job done, find another!

Kudos to you for taking control of your health (and health care provider). ;D ;D ;D
What you do today is what matters!

Hi MichelleShani!  You go girl! :)  You feel free to rant if you wanna!  I feel so lucky, after being with a dr for about 8 years who really wouldn't even discuss my weight with me I switched.  My first appointment with this new doctor, he tells me I need to get the "yellow book" from Amazon called Fat to Skinny!! :o  Not convinced at all, I got it out of the library (with an eyeroll and here we go again) figuring I would read it and tell the doctor that I read it and that would be all.  Here I am, 4 months later and almost 24 lbs lighter!!  HHMMM....

Thanks for sharing Michelle  8) It's good to hear from you and I'm glad to see that weight melting off  ;D ;D. How creative of you to "test" the doctor, like you I always get frustrated when doctors are blind to the truth.  >:(

Michelle congrats on your 41  pounds!  I totally understand how you feel! I work with people everyday whos doctors are killing them. They tell them to eat 6 fruits a day, oatmeal, bread, etc and then hand them a perscription for metformin and insulin. ???

Go Michelle.....I agree with testing the Dr...am going to loose about 15 total pounds before I go back to mine.  Want to see what he says...he was so pleased when I was with WW in 2009 and lost 30 lbs (but have since gained it back).  Last time I was there about 6 weeks ago he mentioned my weight being a large source of my knee pain problems.  Strongly suggested that I loose weight but didn't offer any plans or suggestions.  Of course, on his defense, he knows I am strong personality and probably wouldn't do anything until I was ready.

Wouldn't you like to know how "heavy" those TV gals ever were?  130/150...I doubt it.  I bet they don't know that some of us wear an XXXL or "plus size" outfit :-[...I've found that clothes that are labeled "XL" have a bunch of material missing anymore lol.  Since I am only 5'4" it's hard to find short and wide, why do mfg think if I need an XL that I am probably 7 foot tall too?

Congrats on your weight loss too!  8)
Look out Hawaii, I'm on my way!!
