Totally Surprised Myself!!
« on: October 07, 2011, 10:20:38 AM »
;D Good morning everybody! My husband and I(& the kids when they're not in school)have been walking the track at the football field for quite some time now, and we walk a mile either early morning or in the evenings(when it's coolest)husband and I walked this morning, and on the last lap, I actually jogged(pretty slow, but it's a start)an entire lap! I am so thrilled with myself! Mainly because, being a school bus driver for 9yrs. in Florida, was a sit down job, with little excersize! and I did it!! I am going to keep it to just one lap for a while, till it becomes easy, then I'm going to add two laps, and eventually run the whole mile! YaY!!! AND, I'm going to have to do a before and after picture of my husband!! All I can say is WoW!! Oh and Thanks Doug!! Without Fat To Skinny, we could've never been able to do what we're doing now, even with the kids! They of course rebel every now and again, but, they're slowly getting used to eating right.(if we don't buy it, or cave in to them, they can't eat it! & now the school is specially makeing my 15yr. olds lunch. He comes home and tells us what he had for lunch! It's just so cool!)We are living proof that if you have the will power you can beat the hype of the media and loose the weight and actually run, LoL...

Way to go Stephanie!  I have really been enjoying my morning walks, but for some reason Tuesday morning I was just NOT feeling it. I didn't want to go!  My hubby says that it's days like this that I just have to push through it (...ugh.)  I put on my shoes and headed to the track.  By the end of the 2nd mile, I felt GREAT!  Won't let the couch win!  ;)

I will say that walking in circles on the track is getting old, so yesterday and today, I walked the sidewalks for 45 minutes around the college.  I liked that MUCH better!  Now I am scoping out our town and measuring sidewalks on my odometer for more options!  (Who are you and what have you done with JAN?  ha ha)  This is so NOT me....but I LOVE it!!  Thank you FTS!!!

@Umpa, it's actually pretty fun! I actually like getting outside, and walking/running! Although, husband went w/out me this morning! I was hurtin! LoL...But, I will go this evening! I won't give up! On the corrections officer thing, the agility test, you have to do their obstical course thing in 2:16! From what the human resource lady has been teliing me, the course is quite small. So should be no problem!! I can't waite! It's just so amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it! I couldn't have done this a year ago!

Way to go!  I am so excited for you and your husband too!

Do any of you have any exercises for lower back pain?  I pulled my back out over a week ago, been to the chiropractor twice, the back is better but I have the worst pain shooting down the back of my right thigh into the back of my knee.

I am on prednizone now, and pain meds.  I need to get off of them and get better!  Do any of you have any ideas?  I have stretched and tried to walk, but after a few minutes of standing I'm in pain again.

Please let me know what you think.

Mary

Wow you all are so inspirational!  I hope soon I can force myself off my butt to get out there and start being physical!  Excuses, I know, but I have a pretty physical job (warehouse distribution manager) and by the time I get home, I'm just done!  I threw out my back at work a couple weeks ago and have been on weight restrictions because of it, up to 10lbs lifting now  :P

Predizone is what made Jerry Lewis gain all that weight Mary.Really nasty stuff.I have had back surgery and i find the best exercise for back pain is to build your abs.It takes pressure off the back.I like Tai Chi or Yoga when I am having back issues. You can get a beginner dvd of either one for about $7 on ebay.I like Scott Cole :)
