Coconut Palm Sugar low-glycemic?
« on: February 22, 2012, 05:29:21 PM »
Ok...just found out about coconut palm sugar that is suppose to be an alternative to sugar, low-glycemic index so safe for diabetics and of course it's coconut so it has vitamins, minerals and potassium. 1:1 ratio as sugar for cooking.  The label I saw on netrition is 5 carbs for 2 teaspoons.   That would really add up in a recipe but since it's low-glycemic is it too much?  I would think too much for a newbie but someone maintaining might could swing it?

Yeah or Nay?

What say ye Doug/Umpa?
Peace and blessings,

IzzeT

Howdy,

Buford here, I just finished cruising the internet. Seems like the jury is
still out on this product. Before I dove into a hole sale move to it, I would
wait until the folks without a money interest in it have spoken up.

Seems like it has a lot of fructose in it which backs me off as a diabetic.

Better safe than sorry, I say wait a little longer.

Our Best to You and Yours,
Buford and the Girls

I'd be worried that it would trigger sugar cravings.  The glycemic index doesn't factor that in.

I'm happy for me, too, except that I HATE to shop and I need one more set of transitional clothes before I get to my goal.  I'm trying out internet shopping and plan to get to know the UPS guy.

I did go to a thrift store for the first round of smaller clothes.  It's still shopping.  I'm getting one pair of jeans and two pairs of dress slacks.  My co-workers don't seem to mind seeing me in the same 5 outfits every week.  It's all for a great cause:  ME.

Hi Izzet! :)

I agree... 5 net carbs for only two teaspoons is VERY high.
It's about 1/2 the carbs of refined cane (table) sugar!
What you do today is what matters!

That's what I've been doing too Umpa.  Save a lot on clothing expenses.
