Sausage, Egg, Cheese OMM
« on: March 08, 2012, 02:40:29 PM »
I fried up some spicy sausage this morning and used it and about a tablespoon of shredded cheese in an OMM. OMM - that's Our Miracle Muffin, right? Boy, it was tasty and very filling! Hearty. I haven't had an OMM for a couple months...

Do you use flaxseed Sarah?

I have flaxseed (golden and regular) but I don't care for the texture much. It seems kind of slimy to me and I find myself eating it quickly without enjoying it because of that. I had that problem with the tortillas I was experimenting with, too.

If you mix your flours it will help with that Sarah  ;)   I know it raises the carb count but not as high as if you just used almond meal or other like soy.  I like to use 1/2 almond and 1/2 flax.  For a one minute muffin it only adds .5 net carbs if using the now brand almond meal.

Thanks, Shawn, sometimes I add some flax to the OMM (haven't been eating them much lately). It's ok when I use the OMM for grilled cheese sandwiches, etc., but while the flax is healthier - omegas and all that - I do have a problem with the texture when it's in something without a lot of other ingredients. I've tried biscuits and crackers and tortillas and cornbread with it and just don't like it. It fills the hole, but I don't enjoy it.

Yes, Umpa, I've bought them all - I'm waiting eagerly for the new book to come out. I made your spinach bread the other day for company and we all loved it! I made it as muffins. I was the only one on FTS and the others kept going on and on about how good they were, and HOW did I make them?

I was looking at the Romano bread! I'll try it next. I've just started adding foods back into the menu. I love a 'full-body' bread.

I'm still trying to find out what works for me after six months of FTS. I don't have bread every day, am limiting sweeteners and nuts and salt. Lots of dinners out this last week and I'm still bobbling with a couple pounds. I tried my best to eat right. It is what it is.

I agree. It's better when you focus on positive things and don't obsess over the scale. But it's not always easy.

You're so right, Umpa! :) :) :)

When was the last time the scale really did anything for any of us?
It's just a device we use that sits on the floor... And, nothing else!

We should focus on how "happy" our bodies feel.

Good health is one of the keys to happiness!
And without it, little else seems good.

So celebrate everyday you live FTS!
For with each passing day, we get healthier! ;D
What you do today is what matters!
