Miss UMPA,

I know you is a very smart lady and maybe have a
few farmer genes in ya background, but knowning the
general area you and Doug hang y'alls hats on the back of
the front door. Them cows in the Keys are of the "SEA"
variety and not the "Moo" kind.

Pennekamp used to be loaded with them, ugly critters
unless you is another seacow I guess. Big and friendly
though, they love lettuce , maybe they discovered FTS before
Doug and you did , but weren't talking a lot at the time.

Sea Cows make me nervous - they eat lettuce and they aren't exactly skinny...

I snorkeled with them in the Crystal River years back. They are the
most gentle and peaceful critters you will ever see, babies are kinda
cute. They love where I am because the St. Johns flows north and
for most of the year the water is much warmer than the intercostal
waterway and the river is loaded with water grass and water plants
all year.

Hope Y'all have a great weekend,
Buford and the Girls

A number of our rivers have BIG problems with sea lions.

Those darned things will swim upriver to an obstruction (like a dam) and eat migrating salmon and steelhead like crazy!
And the sad part is, they will follow the fish upstream and take up residence under those obstructions until the fish run has completed.

I've seen them just swim up to fish and take a big bite out of their bellies and leave them to die.
This is NOT good for our endangered wild salmon and steelhead!
What a waste! >:(

You no now that I think about it, I ain't never seen a sea lion
in the St. Johns, might be a plan in the making here of course
the only salmon I ever seen round these parts is in a can.

I'll keep the sea cows and you can have them there sea lions,
although I did see a sea cow gum (they don't have teeth to speak of)
a thick bunch of water hyacinth, dang things almost got away to, but
she (had a baby with her) round them right up and gummed the
heck out of a big'em.

We do have some dangerous critters down here called gators
and then the most dangerous are them "GatorFans" , gotta love
Tim Tebow you know.

Our Best to You and Yours,
Buford and the Girls

Hi Buford! :)

You might find this odd as I do, but there aren't any Sea Lions that live in the Atlantic Ocean! :o
See; http://sealion-world.com/sea-lion-habitat.html

It would be nice to get rid of these hungry pesky predators around here!

We have lots of gators in the Keys. They swim right down the canal behind the house. They don't don't bother anybody though.Doug had to take one out of our neighbors yard though. Her name is Mrs Applegate, she is 92.(the name of her boat is the big hooker  :D) It was at the bottom of her stairs and she couldn't get past it.Dougie put it in the back of the truck and took it away. The neighbors call him "crocodile dougie"! :D :D

Tomorrow I am going to the most gator infested place in the world
this place is over run with'em and they'll come right up to ya
and say "GO GATORS" . I'm going to the VA Hospital in Gainesville
for a heart scan (followup). UMPA go just a tad northwest and you
gonna see some serious gators there, I know I fished the glades
a few times and them is some serious critters when they are hungry.

Back to my supper now.

Our best to you and yours,
Buford and the Girls(The Cold Nose Gang)
