Teenagers Are A Tough Nut To Crack!!
« on: March 21, 2012, 09:17:08 AM »
I have to give a shout out to my 16yr. old! He's the one I was haveing problems getting them to take off the bread on the sandwhiches? But finally did? He has been really resistant since we've been on this "life change!" His BIGGEST crutch has been bread! And still is, when he gets home. We live with my mother n law, so it's kinda hard to clean the house of everything, but she has lost weight. She had the lap ban done and went from 360 to 182! But my nephew uses bread sometimes. and he sees it and of course wants it! We tell him he can either have a salad or a lettuce wrap! He's gone down three pants sizes! He started off at a 48! Has gone down to a size 42/30! So proud of him!! ;D

Peer pressure is such a big part of a teenagers life and so hard to fight.  Congrats to him for making choices that improve his life now and get him ready for a better future.

Congrats to you for helping him find his way.

It's hard to be a teenager. I'm sure your son is much happier being smaller. Can't he have the bread substitutes? I use the OMM cooked in a flat dish to make bread for sandwiches, and the Bakery Book is loaded with breads that are FTS friendly...

Hi Stephanie! :)

By and large, part of being a teenager is forming "grown up" opinions and holding to them tightly.
Some hold on tighter than others. But they all do it to one extent or another.
It's a part of identity formation, and part of growing up.

Despite that, when a teenager sees a parent or sibling achieving something that s/he would like, but goes against their current opinions, they s-l-o-w-l-y start changing their minds.
Then one day... Boom! They change!

It's wonderful to hear that your son has done just that! ;D ;D ;D
What you do today is what matters!

Thanks y'all! For the person that suggested the omm, any type of muffin, and he's back to eating bread. It's like a crack addict, but with bread! That's cool about Sherriepies family! My mother n law had a pair of 12 jeans on her breezeway, LoL...I tried them on, lol...I got em over the but, but when I loose the gut, I know they'll fit! Just more inspiration! ;D
