Do I need to detox again due to using Splenda?  Would this help with my stall?

probably not, the sugar count in powdered Splenda is 6 teaspoons of sugar per cup of powdered splenda. Stop using it though, 1 carb per pack is the count.

Haven't taken them in a week or so.  I was down some a few weeks ago.  This morning I took Doug's suggestion and ate a low carb breakfast consisting of 1 egg and 3 strips bacon.  I'm still not hungry!

I was trying to avoid diet drinks with aspartame.  My question now is, I just bought Diet Coke with Splenda thinking it was a better option than the aspartame.

I'm starting to wonder if this is going to work for me or not.  I use Keostix to watch for ketosis.  I keep going in an out of ketosis???

The other meals throughout the day are practically carb free except dinner.  Because of more veggies or salad dressings.  For lunch it's usually some kind of meat on romaine lettuce, with mustard, pickles, a couple of olives and maybe a few pork rinds 0 carb.   I was eating a heavier carb load at breakfast because I prefer sweets in the morning.

The Diet Coke with Splenda should be okay.  When Splenda has carbs, it's only the powdered kind because of the fillers they use to add bulk to the packets.  liquid splenda is zero carbs.

Whether or not to use aspartame is a personal choice but it is zero carb, too.

The ketosis you are experiencing is not the same kind of ketosis as the one that is dangerous for diabetics.  When your body is using your stored fat as energy because you are eating a low carb diet, one of the byproducts of that process is ketones.  If you are flushing out ketones, you are using fat.

I love not being hungry and having options if I am.

Hi Sandra! :)

It's normal to be in and out of ketosis on any given day.
Just as we do more than one task a day, our bodies perform many different things thoughout each day.

At some points in time, ketosis may stop.
The the ketones in urine indicate that FAT was burned sometime between the last urination and the current one.

I've noticed by checking first thing in the morning, ketosis seems to stop during sleep.
But starts up again at some point later.

When I started FTS, I refrained from all sweets until I was convinced that my body was in "weight loss" mode.
After that, I started to SLOWLY add them until I noticed a slow down.

Don't forget to take your measurements!!!
What you do today is what matters!

Mouseissue,
Thanks for the input regarding ketosis.  I guess if I go in an out of ketosis it's okay, it's just going really slow for me!  I need to suck it up and quit complaining!   I guess I'll figure this out as I go along.  I just want to see more of a change.  That's what will keep me motivated!

I'm going to try and give up diet pop (again) this weekend. I will wean myself off of it during the next few days. That asparatame laden stuff is just not good for you and I don't think I can be just a "casual user".

I DO have one good thing to report on that though. Since I started FTS, when I DO drink asparatame laden diet pop (Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper) it doesn't kick up cravings for other sugars like candy and whatnot. I just don't feel the desire for it (yay! the power of the low carb!).  I also find that I don't "need" it in the morning like I used to and I don't "need" more than one per day. So overall, doing FTS will help me get off "the sauce".  :P

Waterlilly, I like your reference to "the sauce" as I recently stopped drinking diet sodas. I realized that there are so many chemicals in them and I just want to work on putting as much healthy and natural stuff in me as possible. I am not going crazy with the idea just want to make better choices and this is one I can make and stick with.

Cool owmensmath...I'll join you.

You're right about chemicals. Its almost like cigarettes with the amount of chemical compounds in Diet whatever. You'd be better off drinking beer  :P (light of course).

Well I don't touch anything alcoholic either because of how it turns to sugar in my body. I try to drink water as much as possible. Occasionally, I add flavor to my water or drink unsweetened tea. I am getting to the point that I crave water!
