Are cherries allowed?
« on: June 19, 2012, 01:04:58 PM »
I have just started this diet from yesterday. I have gone through the book thoroughly. I am from India and strawberries and other berries are not available in this season. In this season we get cherries. Can I have them.
My second question is if I can have nuts as snacks. I travel a lot for work. I can carry almonds, cashewnuts and other nuts with me. Please advice.

Kind of "expensive."  1.11 carbs per cherry.

To answer the "nut" question, almonds are probably the best choice, but you need to be careful of portion size.  Cashews are pretty high in carbs.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

Fineman...welcome to the family :) I love cherries! The beauty of FAT TO SKINNY is the one and only rule of staying within a 20 net carb per day limit.  If you want them you can eat them BUT you must control the quantity and count the carbs per cherry so it fit's into your total of 20 net carbs per day eating plan.  8)

Welcome Fineman :) Spend your carbs like you spend money. You get 20 a day and if you want to spend them on cherries you can. What about avocado?Do they have that where you live?I am Umpa,Dougs wife if I can help you please ask.I have a column on the homepage called ask umpa where I can convert your favorite recipes to fat to skinny friendly.I would love to do some Indian recipes, one of my favorites. :)

Welcome fineman.  I sympathise - I love cherries too.  We are in winter here at the moment (Australia) so all the fruits I love are out of season so no temptation.  Just as well I can get frozen raspberries and strawberries.   :D
