Working Out
« on: June 20, 2012, 01:52:10 AM »
In my former "skinny" life I liked to run long distances - 1/2 marathons and marathons (I know, who would want to do this).  These past 5 1/2 weeks, I've done little to no exercise.  I've just made it a point to move more.  Once I lose a little more weight, I would like to get back into running.  Does anyone on this board run long distances?  If so, how do keep up your energy on only 20 net carbs...the whole glycogen stores, etc?  Does anyone add more carbs on long runs?

Just curious.  I know there are a lot of differing opinions on it.

Scott is our long distance runner. You can contact him through the forum.I run 4 -5 times a week but on a treadmill because I don't live where I can run outside. Carbs for exercise are a myth. They burn too quickly.Long distance runners nowadays use large amounts of proteins which burn slow. I run not to lose weight but to make me feel good.I am in menopause and it really helps. ;)
