so i received my lab results today from the dr and i was slightly disappointed with my results. i do not have a baseline lab value from when i started the fts lifestyle but i do know that i never had cholesterol or issues with any of my blood work in previous years. i go to the dr every year for annual blood test, being a nurse i know the importance of getting preventive check ups. any thoughts? i wonder what i can do do alter these. it has been 6 months since i have been following and have remained faithful and accountable, have never "cheated"by eating sugar/carbs/breads/starches. i have no desire to? i welcome any thoughts...... this just adds to my frustrations... hmmmm???

Hi Steph  

Maybe I'm reading it wrong and I'm just learning about cholesterol myself, but it really doesn't seem that bad to me.  I know it says high, but isn't that because your "good cholesterol" (HDL) is at a high number?  I'm thinking that is a good thing.  According to the Mayo Clinic site http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cholesterol-levels/CL00001 Your numbers look good with the exception of your LDL.   If you look at their numbers it is only slightly higher than ideal.  Like I said maybe I'm just lacking in information about the subject?  I can understand your frustration though.  I've been delving into some research on cholesterol here lately because I have some tests coming up myself.  The more I know the calmer I am...LOL   ;D  Did your doc tell you these were bad?

Steph I think your numbers are near spot on. Your Triglycerides prove to me that you're solid on the FTS program. The Mayo clinic link from TooSweet is where I was going to send you as well. Please take a moment and review the numbers from Mayo and read the info. I know you're a nurse and are around health pros all day but you can't beat Mayo for good solid facts.  8)

Thanks Doug! I guess I just expected perfect numbers. ???wishful thinking...but 100% mayo is an awesome valid source that as healthcare professionals we frequent often! Toosweet thank you so much, I guess we as humans sometimes forget the basics when it comes to ourselves.... didn't even think to go there and read. Being an icu nurse cholesterol , triglercides ect are not our focus or my speciality lol :D thanks again friends

Consider patients you've worked with that are/were in for some form of long term recovery.
Then think about this...

We spent MANY years inflicting harm on our bodies with the toxin, sugar.
It will take time for our bodies to completely heal from that damage.

Everyday we live the FTS lifestyle, we heal a bit more and are that much healthier! :)

How true is this Tony! This sure does put it in perspective. I am taking it day by day working on my patience, because it is not just with weight loss and becoming healthy do I lack patience! LOL It is just one of the many things that this journey is going to teach me !  ;D Your encouraging words mean so much to me, I have said it before but you remind me of my dad, it is so comforting!

I would try to force things along whenever I thought I could.

Through 60 years of life, I learned that I have much more peace when I allow things time to run their normal course.

Our days on this planet are numbered and go by very fast.
Take the time you use concerning yourself with the speed of your progress and just enjoy each day the Good Lord blesses you with.
And count your many blessings.

You WILL get to your goal!... Just let it happen in its due time! :)

One thing I was tought as a kid was to learn from my elders because they have the life experience and expertise. I appreciate your knowledge and am continuing to work every day on my patiences :P

Thanks Andrea! I hope to continue to improve them . I am sure with exercise I have added to my routine it will help my weight loss and numbers tremendously, as well as my mental health lol ! Thanks again
