Expiry Dates
« on: January 26, 2013, 09:40:45 PM »
Can someone help.  I bought some Miracle Noodles last year but didn't get around to using them.  When I got them out of the cupboard the exp date on them was Sept 2012.  Would you think they would still be good to use.  Not sure how they (the dates) work in the States.  We have a best before or use by date on our products - which I usually adhere to when it is a dairy or fresh product.  When it's a vacuum sealed pack/cans etc you can have some leeway.

Suggestions?

Failure can be measured by the steps we don't take.

Morgan here is what they say on their web site: http://www.miraclenoodle.com/t-faq.aspx#back

Quote
Can the noodles be eaten after the expiration date?
Yes. The noodles do last beyond their suggested shelf life but we recommend following the date.  If they have been refrigerated and if the noodle shape is still intact, they are fine to eat for a period of 2-3 months after the date.  After a period of time, the noodles dissolve back into glucomannan powder that are made from and then can no longer be consumed.

It's a little too far past the date for me...I hate to say  :(   I think I agree that it isn't worth it....It doesn't say it would make you sick but you can't take that back if you know what I mean  :P :P

Think I have to agree.  Not worth getting sick - or ruining the meat sauce  :D

I ordered the miracle rice with my netrition order that just came today.  I was really looking forward to using it in a rice recipe but I ran across an idea of using it for a tapioca pudding....I'm thinking I'm going to give that a go tomorrow.  One of my favorite puddings.

Sorry you lost the noodles Morgan.   I hate when I don't get things used up before they go bad.   :-\

You are not the only one. I had 3 bags.  Forgot all about them.  Never mind.  Good luck with the pudding.  Would never have thought for using the rice one for it.  I think the texture would probably be about right.
