here's another recipe to use up some carb foods in other ways 

1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
food coloring
dry pasta - elbow macaroni noodles work great
newspaper
wax paper

mix the alcohol and food coloring in a bowl.  add small amounts of dry pasta to the liquid and gently mix.  the larger the pasta, the longer it will take to absorb the colors.  dry on newspapers covered with wax paper.  Remind your child(ren) that pasta dyed with this recipe is not for eating; it's only for art projects
