Thank you Tony!  ;)  I am sure it will turn out better next time!  I was surprised at the taste.  It almost had a lemon flavor to it.  Not sure where that came from...?  In the past I had only had artichokes in spinach dip.

Hi Jan! :)

A "lemon" (or sour) flavor could come from vinegar in the marinated artichokes.
You could add a bit more mayo and/or add sour cream to dilute it down even more.

Although the recipe does not call for it, I cut back the mayo and added sour cream.
The sour cream seems to "smooth" out the flavor nicely and makes the mixture less oily.

Hi Umpa,  I didn't use much because there's 4 carbs to just ONE tablespoon.  :(  I am sure there's a better alternative to season the turnips.... I used to like roasted potatoes cooked this way, so I think I was just trying to ensure that I liked the turnips on my first try! ha ha  Next time, I'll just use salt, pepper & garlic.   Maybe some onion powder..??

Hi Jan!

Here's a recipe for Faux Lipton Onion Soup mix I found a while back and it's quite good! ;)

3/4 cup Dehydrated Onion Flakes
1/3 cup Beef Bouillon Powder (without MSG)
4 tsp Onion Powder
1/4 tsp crushed Celery Seed
1/4 tsp Xylitol or Erythritol

Crush the onion flakes in a baggie (leaving some larger bits) with celery seed using a meat tenderizing hammer.
Combine with all other ingredients and store in an airtight container.

Entire recipe makes about 1.25 cups of mix with 25 net carbs total (about 1.25 per TBSP)
About 5 tablespoons of mix (at 7.5 net carbs) are equal to a 1.25 ounce package of Lipton Onion Soup mix (at 17 net carbs).

To make onion dip:
Mix 5 tablespoons with one pint of sour cream. Makes 4 servings.
Carb count of dip depends on sour cream used.

Thanks tony I like to mix the soup mix with 2 lbs Hamburger meat before I grill or bake them . I still can do it an count them as 2 carbs per burger sometimes it is worth it  ;D

The only reason I had that memory maddiesmom was  one of the girls was on a  plateau. She was putting it on chicken breast before she put them in the oven or was eating the soup as a lunch.It nevered occured to her.Hers said 2 carbs and she thought that was for the whole package,well it wasn't it was per serving and one package was like 6 tablespoons,6 servings.I don't remember the brand,I think it was lipton. ;)
