Sugar Free Candy
« on: June 23, 2010, 10:43:12 PM »
So I was at Walgreens this afternoon and went down the candy isle...they had buy one get one free on all bags of sugar free candies.
For 5 pieces it ranged from 22 -28 carbs, 0 fiber of course....
This doesn't sound like a good deal to me!  Peppermint patties (my fave!) were very high.
Am I missing something here?
Please help...I could use a fun treat.
Thanks!

hey Sb.... i think you're forgetting to subtract the sugar alcohols>>>total carbs is carbs minus fibers & sugar alcohols....and sugar free candies are loaded with sugar alcohols:)

You would be better off making your own so you get exactly what you want! I make my own peanut butter cups, yummy!

Oh Thanks Katary! I didn't look for sugar alcohols...I rarely see them in my food.
I will go back and take a look!
Thank you!
Umpa! I would love that PB cup recipe!
Thanks!

Umpa,
I put peanut butter cups in the search engine and just our conversation popped up.
No recipe...should I go to your recipe link?

For those of us who might have "portion control" issues, I like buying the Russell Stover Sugar Free chocolate candy because it is individually wrapped and you are "more aware" of how many bites and carbs you are eating when you see how many little packages you are opening up.  Food for thought -- or should I say "chocolate candy" for thought !!!  :D
