My way of thinking is simple...it comes from my Dad's comment over the years, "Your mother isn't running a restaurant here..what's fro supper IS for supper" I follow the same rules in my home, I cook what I cook and serve it, if they don't like it they can go out to eat
You'd be surprised how many guests are shocked at how much they enjoy what's on the table....case in point. Yesterday my uncle and aunt came to visit, both in their late 70's, neither have strayed away from the typical meat and taters menu their who lives...well guess what, I served jicama potato salad with the BBQ...loved it, I served jicama hash browns with the steak and eggs....loved it, I served cauli mash with the smoked turkey breast...loved it and sugar free home made peanut butter ice cream for dessert...another hit!
Cook it...serve it....they WILL eat it
