Im allergic to the patch. I tried the nicorette gum the other day shortly after my sugar dropped to 48. I dont know if it had anything to do with the gum or not but it freaked me out.

Hi Beebs!

Years ago, my wife and I tried quitting smoking with patches.
It works for some, but not for me or my wife!
If it works for you, then HALELUJAH!!!

If not...

If you have med insurance, look into Chantix.
My wife and I smoked our last cigarettes on May 8, 2010 and have not smoked since!
We started taking Chantix on May 1, 2010 and stopped on August 1, 2010.

You do need an Rx for this drug.
Talk to your doctor about side effects.
The worst side effect for us was weird, colorful, and sometimes scary dreams.
To a lesser extent, we did have some minor nausea.
Some folks have a tough time with it.
Also, depending on your med insurance, this stuff can be very pricey!

No matter what you do, even if it means cold turkey... PLEASE QUIT SMOKING!!!
Like dealing with fat, it's a health risk factor that's up to each of us to manage.
It does us no good to look slim and trim in a casket!
What you do today is what matters!

Hi There Jo!

That's wonderful!!!
It makes my heart jump to hear about other souls saved from the dangers of smoking!!!

I too gained a little weight.
I believe it would have been MUCH worse if it weren't for F2S!!!

I started F2S about a week after I stopped taking Chantix.
This also might explain my slow weight loss.
My body might still be adjusting to be nicotine-free after 45 years of smoking.
What you do today is what matters!

I quit 24 years ago by being hypnotized.  I have also heard of a book that has helped others called "Allen Carr's Easyway To Stop Smoking."  Supposedly Ellen DeGeneres & Ashton Kutcher quit with this method.  You just have to find a way that works for you.  Just like FTS, once you get the smoking behind you, you will never look back.

Love to hear people talk about quitting smoking. :)  cigarettes took my Dad at age 49, just months before he was due to retire and start a new life of traveling with my Mom.  :'(

Im afraid to take the Chantix because Im on so many other medications. I have a very delicate balance going and I dont want to mess with it. Especially since I already take Paxil. I also take about eight other medications.

That damn scale kills me. One day it's my best friend and the next my enemy. I had a problem about 10 days ago where I went to a friends and we had drinks. I don't really drink and what I thought I was having was a diet caffeine free coke with vodka. It tasted horrible but I just assumed it was the vodka, so I had her pour more diet coke in it to try and make it weaker. It still tasted horrible but I drank it, slowly all night. Then I went to pour myself just a diet coke and looked at the bottle. She had poured me regular diet coke....not diet. I was horrified...I calculated 70 carbs in the horrific drink. SEVENTY!! I started FTS in April and haven't screwed up like this once. You know what I could have eaten for SEVENTY CARBS!! OMG I was freaking out. So for the past week and a half I have been fighting the scale. That one drink made me gain TWO POUNDS and took me a week and half to loose it plus two more. It also feels like it really slowed down my system. So my husband has been listening to me complain this whole time and when I went in to weigh this morning I found the scale missing and post it note in it's place. The note read "I love you...your torturing yourself...I'll give it back in a week." He has taken my scale hostage. LOL

What a wonderful husband!!! Hope you gave him a big kiss ;)  Sometimes I wonder how they put up with us and then I remember they all have "selective" hearing and can't hear most of what we say anyway :-\

Beebs,

I understand your fear.
But talk to your doctor about it anyway.

You MUST find a way to quit smoking!
If not Chantix, then something else... as long as it works for YOU!!!

F2S is about radically improving our quality of life.
It would break my heart to hear that you've contracted some smoking related illness.

If there's anything I can say or do to help you, please let me know.

Beebs, if you can quit sugar, you can quit smoking, too! I know you are strong enough to do it.

On the smoking issue....8+ years smoke-free........Beebs, I used the Nicotrol Inhaler....needs a script but I liked the fact that I had control over it and only used it when I needed it..another option. Quitting smoking is sooooo hard but so worth it!!
