BIG MAC IN A BOWL
« on: October 17, 2010, 03:50:57 PM »
I found this recipe in a low carb book today thought it was something different to try ,they said you could make your on dressing with mayo ,low sugar ketchup, dill relish.

BIG MAC IN A BOWL

Ingredients:  1/2 lb hamburger
2 cups shredded lettuce
1 tbs dehydrated chopped onions
10 dill pickle slices (chopped)
2 slices american cheese
3 tbs low carb Thousand Island dressing
How To Prepare:  Place dehydrated onions in a small cup of warm water to rehydrate.
Place lettuce and pickles in a bowl.
Brown hamburger over medium heat.
Drain, leave in a little of the grease, then stir in cheese until melted. It should coat the hamburger.
Immediately pour hot hamburger over salad and stir.
Drain chopped onion, and stir into salad.
I like to microwave my salad for a minute to warm everything up.
Stir in Thousand Island dressing.
Enjoy!

just a few cautions if you wouldn't mind:  I would use real cheddar cheese instead because American is processed and has carbs.  Real onion would probably taste better than dehydrated and I don't know about you but I know what it does to my hubby. lol  Check your mayo is sugar free like Dukes and the ketchup is truly low sugar, if making your own dressing.  Watch your pickles as they are 3 carbs for one pickle I believe, depending on the size.  Carbs could quickly add up if you are not checking labels for serving size.

Sounds good and can't wait to try it!
Peace and blessings,

I saw this last night on another recipe search engine. I was a bit hesitant to try it, but I love Big Macs, so thought I might try it sometime in the future. Thanks for the cautionary hints izzet. I'm still new enough that I might have been caught on a couple of those!

Interesting recipe!

I just looked at the McD's website and if you take the bun off the Big Mac, but eat everything else, it's only 5 carbs for the whole thing.

Honestly, that's what I thought this post was going to say to do! :D :D

Hi, Adam! :)

Eating vegan can be adopted into the FTS low-carb lifestyle.
However, carb counts and portion sizes still matter even though animal protein & fat is omitted.

So be careful. Go forth, and enjoy! :)
