Dr. Oz today -Artificial Sweeteners and Sugar Substitutes
« on: October 20, 2010, 04:06:21 PM »
Today, Oct. 20/10, Dr. Oz's show is about artificial sweeteners and sugar substitutes.  It is on at 5pm where I live, check your local TV listings.  Might be interesting to see what he has to say.

Report Back.I can't watch him I have to work. His heart is in the right place, but sometimes I think his staff doesn't do their research before they give him info. :)

I agree Umpa.

Not long ago, I saw an episode of his program where he was touting the praises of the USDA's new food pyramid. Its foundation is starch-based (sugar). It's a wonderful guide for weight gain. They seem to want to fatten us like cattle, and then "help" us lose weight.

Needless to say, I don't pay any attention to his program's dietary advice.

I did watch it and they didn't say anything amazing.  Equal, Sugar Twin & Splenda are not good for you.  He suggested Stevia and never mentioned Xylitol.  I taped it because I couldn't watch it either.  After that segment there was a very interesting bit about lungs and yes, he had lungs there.  I am going to make my husband sit through it and see what healthy lungs look like as opposed to those nasty smokers lungs with Emphysema.  So no, you didn't miss anything amazing about sweeteners.

Shihtzumom1,

I hope that your husband stops smoking while he still has his health.

According to medical researchers, it takes our lungs about 10 years to completely recover from a long-term smoking habit.
A number of non-smokers contract cancer years after they quit.
I pray that I quit in time to avoid this.
I also pray your husband does too.

Thank you for your prayer, Shihtzumom1.  :)
I believe the good Lord has some plans for me in the future or He would not have brought F2S into my life.

Please do quit quickly!  My father-in-law quit, but it was too late, the damage was done.  Very sadley, he just passed away from lung cancer.

I am sad for your loss becky.  :'(

When I smoked, I will admit that I enjoyed it VERY much. I looked forward to each cigarette.
That made so much harder to quit.

As I was reading Doug's book "FAT To Skinny Fast And Easy!" in April 2010, it occurred to me that I HAD TO lose weight for my health. At the time, I was a smoker (about 1 pack a day) and so it also occurred to me that it made no sense to lose weight and keep on smoking. I thought, "What kind of life will I have as a thinner but probably sick (or dead) person?". That's when I decided it was time to quit smoking. After quitting for 3 months, I started the F2S lifestyle.

The smoking demon was much more dangerous and important to conquer than my weight problem.

WOW I must REALLY be dense!  :P
I don't know why this did not occur to me sooner...

After reading my last post here just now, I realized that "FAT To Skinny Fast And Easy!" is not only responsible for helping me conquer my sugar addiction... It is also DIRECTLY responsible for my quitting smoking!!!

If I had not read Doug's book, I would still be smoking and FAT (or fatter than ever).

I know I've said it before but... God Bless You Doug!!!
You have no idea how much I appreciate what you've done for me!
