 ??? can someone tell em the real count for acorn squah?? im finding 29...hope this isnt true................ ???

I have been counting it as yellow squash, 1.5 per 1/2 cup.  I got this from the FTS book and the FTS Sugar & Carb Counter e-book.

I looked up "squash, acorn" on the USDA's nutrient database and found that Acorn Squash is fairly high in net carbs.
It has about 12.5 net carbs per cup (6.25 net per 1/2 cup). The USDA database did not list yellow squash.

Acorn squash is round and looks like a small "green and yellow pumpkin".

Yellow (summer) squash is long and looks like a "yellow zucchini".

So I guess it doesn't mean yellow flesh squash then, I guess I didn't understand that.  Well it's a good thing I only ate it a couple of times and do I try to end each day way below the 20 net carbs.  No more acorn squash for me.

It's really not that hard at all.
If you remember to ALWAYS read product labels and for generic foods (like squash) look 'em up online (or in a carb count book) before you go shopping, you'll do just fine.

After a while, it becomes second nature and you'll be effectively carb counting with little effort before you know it.

Crookneck squash and yellow squash are the same thing.Very low in carbs.Acorn squash if you can find a good one, is 24 for a average size.If I want it I practice portion control.I only eat a fourth which is 6 carbs. I like to make*sweet potatoes*(pumpkin and cauliflower mix the recipe is in ask umpa).You can eat alot more and it gives you the same taste and texture. ;)

Also called summer squash, like Zucchini crookneck aka yellow aka summer squash is high in water and low in sugar. Squash rules are pretty simple...the harder and denser the squash the higher in sugar. Acorn squash is NOT an FTS approved squash. Another great squash is a chayote squash, give it a try.

I think butternut squash is rather high in carbs, too....which is too bad because I like my butternut squash soup. It must not be terribly high for a small serving, though, because I've not stalled in weight loss too much. The key is to have a small coffee cup serving, I think.

chicken broth, butternut squash, cream cheese (It's similar to the creamy broccoli soup recipe I posted).

Butternut squash (raw) has a total of 16.37 carbs - 2.8 fiber = 13.57 net carbs  :o per cup.
