Scott in Florida - week 10
« on: November 10, 2010, 12:53:49 PM »
My 10th week was nothing to write home about - .8 pounds lost.  Still, it's progress in the right direction.  Need to figure out how I am going to continue with my walking program now that it's just about dark by the time I get home from work.  Maybe if it's light enough early enough I can do it first thing in the morning.  I just hate walking in the dark because there are critters (raccoons, possums, armadillos, etc) out walking around then!

Like Jo says, every ounce counts.
To lose 1 lb., you must lose 0.8 lbs. first.

You've got the right attitude Scott!  :)

I've had weeks where I've gained weight only to lose it again (with a little more) shortly afterword.

We all must get used to the fact that weight loss is a series of ups and downs where, over time, the downs outnumber the ups.

Living almost across the street from a sizable forest, we have critter issues here too.
In fact, one of our barn cats got into it with something last night out side our bedroom window at about 3:30 AM. ...Erghh...  >:(

Instead of walking, I'm thinking about buying a couple of those stair-step things for my wife and I to use during the winter months.

Keep up the good work!  ;)

or you can go to Walmart, Costco, Sam's club...etc.... walk inside and enjoy their heat/a.c. and products at the same time

For folks in drier and more temperate areas, this is a good idea.  :)

My wife drives 44 miles back from work M-F through evening traffic (often in heavy rain, hail, sleet, etc.).
Most evenings when she hits the door, going out is the very last thing she wants to do.

Actually a lot of people have taken to the idea of walking around the mall, and it's open until 9 pm.  I have even seen some malls with "walking tracks" so that people can measure the distance they walk.  I really prefer to be outdoors though - especially here in Florida in the winter.  I lived in Maine for 13 years, and those winters definitely weren't always nice walking weather!

Scott look what you have already accomplished!  I was at a plateau for a few weeks and finally broke it. I read somewhere our bodies have a memory of a time when we were around that weight and it likes it there.  Just keep at it and it will come off.  I use to live in Maine and loved it up there and lived in Key West and loved it there too.  Now I'm somewhere in the middle. lol

I'm with you about walking outside whenever possible.  I would go for the morning walk and a great way to wake up and start your day. :)
Peace and blessings,

Sounds like you like to incorporate fun and walking instead of just walking Beebs.  That's why I like to walk or hike outside so it's interesting. ;)

Get a dog Beebs.  Then you always have someone who wants to go for a walk.  Maybe a Shih Tzu!

Well, I did go walking this morning at 6:30.  It was just barely starting to get light then, and 50 minutes later when I finished my 3 mile route it was of course completely light.  I just bring my MP3 player and listen to my favorite radio show, and it's very enjoyable.  Great way to start the day, and to get the fat-burner machine fired up for the morning!

I totally agree, helps clear the head and step out of the chaos for a bit.
