« on: April 15, 2010, 08:26:38 AM »
hello, i went to doctors on tuesday..she has given me two months to get my blood glucose and cholesterol down to normal ranges otherwise i'm having to go on meds..as i told her i had started a low carb plan..will my blood glucose return to normal within two months? i have lost 5lb so far since saturday..p.s. the gg crispbread are fantastic..i ordered a sample as i was concerned that they may taste a bit cardboard like..they sent three packs free of charge..i was missing the bran flakes i used to eat for breakfast, but these taste just the same, without the sugar ..thank-you..xx

I have a similar question. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes on March 11th. Since then, I have followed the low carb/no sugar plan faithfully. I have lost 11 pounds. I was prescribed ActoPlus Met and take it twice a day. My HA1C was 11. Anyone have any ideas as to how soon I should get in a normal range and be able to stop paying for medication? Anyone been in a similar situation?

Thanks

My HA1c came down from 8.9 to 7.2 in 6 weeks and Im a type one diabetic. So YES!! It can and will happen! Stick with the program and you will see.

That sounds great! My doctor doesn't see me again until July 1st, and he doesn't have me checking my sugar in the meantime. I know it was consistently at or around 244 prior to the change. I will find a way to test my sugar soon to see the changes.

I checked my blood sugar one hour after dinner and it was 127. Five weeks ago, it stayed around 244, no matter whether I ate or not. I also forgot to take my medicine this morning. It's the first time I've forgotten and I didn't know what to expect. I am hoping that at my next doctor's visit, he'll say I don't need medicine anymore!

Good for you!!!! You are reversing your diabetes  ;D Keep a good log for your doctor and check with him/her before stopping meds. Don't wait for your next appointment. If you're waking up with normal counts call your doctor and ask advise about taking them. He/She may have you stop sooner than you think!

Yeah FAT TO SKINNY!

Hi,

I'm new to the site my first post. I just had to chime in on this topic.  I purchased my book in December.  Let me say my blood sugar started dropping real fast from the usual high 200's to low 300's the low 100's and that is usually after I eat. Thanks Doug! Oh yea my weight is doing great also ;D

Congratulations, Bevxx, that is great news!

I was just getting on here to say that I checked my blood sugar last night around 10 p.m. and it was 110. Just a few short weeks ago, it was staying at 244 all the time! : )

Here's to our health!  ;D
