Torani SF syrups
« on: November 15, 2010, 09:06:35 AM »
I was in Atlanta on Saturday and tried to find a health food store I had been to once before. I couldn't find it again, but I found a store called "Cost + World Market." They had 25 oz bottles of Torani's SF syrups for $6.99. That is a dollar less than the 12 oz bottles that I buy at Walmart.... TWICE as MUCH and COST less!!! I loaded up! i now have white chocolate flavor and english toffee, in addition to the caramel and chocolate that I've had before. YAY!

Yum...I get mine from Sam's Club or order from Netrition.  Love it when I find it local but most stores don't carry all the flavors. Glad you found some!
Peace and blessings,

drinks, shakes, coffee, flavoring in recipes (reduce liquid by how much you add), chocolate, etc. :)

It is wonderful when added to a cup of hot green tea!

Our Smart & Final has a nice selection of these syrups for $4.59 for 25 oz.  I use them in a concoction we blended up this summer - a shot of espresso, about 1 cup of low-carb soy milk or almond milk (we used horchata this summer, but that's rice milk and loaded with carbs), about a tablespoon of Torini SF coconut syrup and about a tablespoon of Torini SF vanilla syrup, a dash of cinnamon and ice cubes.  I'm still looking at the horchata replacement.  This is such a satisfying drink!  I think it would be good with any flavor syrup.

Are these absolute zero carbs or is it like Splenda where they don't list them fully?

Hi Rena,  :)

According to Torani nutrition info, they are 0 net carb.

For example, see http://www.torani.com/products/sugar-free-french-vanilla-syrup

I imagine they have some sugar alcohols (which don't count). But don't list them on their labels.

Thanks, mouseissue!

I use Splenda a lot and would like to switch to another sweetener once we go through what we have. I don't use it 'a lot' I guess and it still adds up to my 20 net carbs per day.

I was hoping the syrups were free. I know some are 0 and others are 1.

You're welcome, Rena!  :)

Like Doug, I like Stevia instead of Splenda.
It's 0 net carb and very good.
You can find it online almost everywhere!

For cooking, I like Xylitol. Just don't let any small pets get into it!

Okay, this is what confused me ...

I have the sugar-free chocolate syrup and it lists 0 carbs. But when I look at ingredients, it says "sucralose (Splenda brand)". So that's why I was wondering if these syrups counted the same as Splenda packets, which technically say 0 carbs, but aren't.

Doesn't take much to confuse me. :D

Don't feel bad for being confused about this Rena!

The carbs in Splenda come from the filler maltodextrin (Splenda's #1 ingredient).
Sucralose (the #2 ingredient) is the actual sweetener.

The maltodextrin is used so that Splenda's sucralose would measure like ordinary sugar.
