I have yet to run that test but my question is do i just eat protein? do i have veggies? where does that portion start? i guess i just need a general guideline as to where my test should start so i can modify through the day...

If you have Doug's book "FAT To Skinny, Fast and Easy!", you'll find the answer what to eat while you run your test on pages 84-88.
If you don't have a copy, buy it!... We refer to it constantly in this forum.
That little yellow book is the foundation of our new lifestyle.
During your test, the day's starting food portion Doug used was a small breakfast of 2 eggs, 3 strips bacon or ham, 2 pieces GG Bran Crispbread, 2 tablespoons peanut butter mixture (see page 104), along with any any sugar-free beverage.
You do not need to exclusively eat protein.
In fact, you need fiber as well (like that you'd get from GG Bran Crispbread) for good digestion among other health benefits.
See Doug's list on pages 106-107.
When you get "hungry" (as you'll discover in your test), you may eat low-carb veggies.
Just remember the cardinal rule... EAT NO MORE THAN 20 NET CARBS PER DAY!!!
The goal here is to help you figure out when YOU feel REAL hunger for food.
That way, you can schedule your meals around those times without ending up grazing in the kitchen.
When you know when your body requires food, you can tailor a menu that suits you with all the low-carb foods you'll enjoy and still
lose weight!
