Cauliflower Pizza Crust and/or Breadsticks
« on: November 21, 2010, 02:57:07 PM »
This recipe was on Dr. Oz and is way too good not to share!
This could be football food too!!

Cauliflower Pizza Crust and Breadsticks:
Ingredients
1 cup cauliflower, cooked and riced/grated
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg
1 tsp oregano
2 tsp basil
2 tsp parsley
1/2 tsp fennel
1 green pepper
1 onion
1 tomato
Garlic powder, to taste

Directions
Chop pepper, onion and tomato. Set aside. Steam the cauliflower, let it cool and then grate it.

Combine grated cauliflower with the mozzarella and egg in a large bowl. Spray a circular or rectangular metal pan with cooking spray before spreading the dough evenly (or use silicone baking board or parchment paper). Sprinkle the dough with fennel, oregano, parsley and basil. Add garlic powder.

Bake at 450 F for 12-15 minutes. Remove the dough from the oven and sprinkle chopped green pepper, onion and tomato, as well as the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Return the pizza to the oven. Turn the heat up to broil and leave in until the cheese has melted and the crust is crispy.

Is it wet or does it firm up? :)

It firms up and is actually crispy. You can hold the pizza slice like regular piece of pizza.

I tried it and it was delish !!!! My 27 year old came over and eat some pizza and said it was good then I told him waht it was made with and he cold not believe it . I made the cheesesticks also I just had one of the tin loaf pans and they did not turn out right ,maybe with a real loaf pan they would have .

Maybe after making the pizza crust just slice it and sprinkle with shredded cheese and pop it under the broiler just to melt the cheese - just a thought.

We had the pizza yesterday and the flavor was beautiful and it kept me full all day! My mistake was that I used parchment paper under the pizza and fresh mozzerella so the bottom wasn't crisp because there was nowhere for the moisture to go.I will make it again though.Good recipe Caligirl! ;D

I made this for dinner last night and put toppings on it for chicken wing pizza.  It was delicious and I liked the cauli crust much better than using a LaTortilla for pizza.

Sure wish I could take credit for that genius recipe yet happy to share nonetheless. Glad everyone is enjoying it. The lady who created it has many excellent ideas and recipes to use as they are or embellish upon to create your own.

I've got a half a bowl of mashed cauli left. I'm going to try to turn it into "something"  :D  Anyone have any ideas??
