institches9709 meal plan for 1/22/2011
« on: January 23, 2011, 06:44:26 PM »
So after reading everyone else's meal plan, I'm thinking maybe I'm eating too much food?

Here is my plan as best as I could figure it as I am still new at this:

B. 1/2 cup Egg Beaters   = 2 carbs
    3 sl turkey bacon       = 0 "
    shake of parm cheese = 0 "
    1 tbls low sugar ketchip= 1 carb
    1 tbls cream for hot tea = 1 "       total 4

S. 15 plain almonds          = 1 "

L. 1 Ole Whole Wheat Wrap = 4 carbs
    1 can drained tuna          = 0
1 tbls low fat mayo         = 1 carb
    1 hb egg                        =1 carb   total 5

D  salmon                          = 0
spinach wilted with 4 mushrooms and 3 slices turkey bacon= 2?
  1 sf jello with w/reddi whip  = 2

So I came up with 15, quite a bit more than you all are eating, but less than 20. Am I eating too much? I am not hungry.Thanks.

Are you sure about that Ole wrap only having 4 carbs? I would probably question the label and look closely at the ingredients. The one I saw in my local grocery store that was the whole wheat wrap had more than that in it.

Well, I checked all of them and the only one that I could find with a net carb of 4 was the "Ole Xtreme Wellness Whole Wheat Tortillas."  The whole grain variety has something like 14 before you take off for fiber.

This one reads: total carbs 9 with Dietary Fiber of 5 for a 4 net carb .  The ingredients are:Whole wheat flour, enriched bleached flour, water, vegetable shortening, contains 2% or less of the following: baking powder; salt; calcium propionate, distilled mono and diglycerides, sorbic acid, fumaric acid.

I found them at Krogers and these were the only ones they had with a 4 net carb.  Do you think they are safe to use?  Thanks

Well I have some that say 5 carbs with 12 grams of fiber, but Doug said that the fiber had already been taken out. If whole wheat flour is the first ingredient, it's likely that may be the case with the ones you mentioned. You can always contact the company to ask. Maybe today Doug or Umpa will see this post and add their more educated opinions than mine. : )

Also you might want to check the mayo labels at the store. The one I use has no carbs, I think it's Hellmans but I'm not sure. I am a mayo & tuna freak, I eat it several times a week and if you can save yourself a carb here or there it adds up. :)

Hi institches9709 !  :)

I would be very suspicious of the carb count on that wrap since the the top two ingredients (whole wheat flour & enriched bleached flour) are VERY high in net carbs!

Like owensmath suggests, contact the company for clarification.

It's too bad that there are companies out there willing to lie about their product in order to sell it.
In my opinion, doing business that way will eventually lead to ruin.

So... Buyer beware!  :o

Thanks Everyone,

I'll try to find the company online and send them a note and maybe I am reading the package wrong. I just thought you took the carbs and subtracted the fiber and what was left was the net carbs. I don't eat them very often, but I don't want to waste my carbs on a tortilla if it is more than I thought it was.

Thanks for the info and I'll try to check it out.

I agree with mouseissue, the first two ingredients tell the whole story. Have you tried a big romaine lettuce leaf as a wrapper yet?

Hi Doug,

I haven't tried lettuce yet, but I'm willing to try it. Thanks for the input.  I tried to e-mail the company tonight but they aren't set up for e-mails even though the website said it is.  It wouldn't go through, so I guess the old garbage can will get the last of the package.   ::) ::) ::)

Try Josephs Flax seed pitas too! There are only four carbs in a full pita and they are yummy. You can get them at the big wallmart grocery stores. I love them!
