Mouseissue, did you use canned mushrooms or fresh? Using canned, you wouldn't need to saute them first.

Hi Countrygirl!  :)

I used fresh. I prefer fresh to canned for authentic mushroom flavor in salads and some dishes.
My wife and I have never been fans of canned mushrooms (or any other canned veggie EXCEPT for marinated artichoke hearts).

Although the alfredo sauce is quite good, we prefer plain sour cream since the Jimmy Dean sausage we use has so much flavor from seasonings.
The "plain" flavor of the sour cream seems to "smooth" it out.
When we want to kick it up, we'll also add salsa when we're in the mood for a southwestern touch.

BTW, this dish warms up wonderfully in the microwave!!!

I like fresh too mouseissue,but if I am making a recipe that I am concerned about too much water from the mushrooms I use canned or microwave the mushrooms in a couple tablespoons of water first before I use them.I pop them in a measuring cup with water cover it and microwave foe 1-2 minutes.You would be shocked how much water comes out. ;)
