Local Resources (Eugene Oregon) or affordable internet shipping?

I bought some Bob's Red Mill blanched almond flour the other day....which made me realize that there's a big difference between that and NOW brand UNblanched almond flour. I made the chocolate cake and needed the right ingredient.

So...I've been searching the internet and locally for the NOW brand...nothing locally, and I found it for as cheap as $3.66/10 oz bag online...but then shipping was $20 for 10 bags - that's another $2 per bag which is unacceptable.

I did talk with a local grocery store who researched and are unable to get it...but his voicemail message to me did say "unbleached" instead of "unblanched" so I'll call again to get him looking for the right product.

Looking for a reasonable resource for this product...

Amazon carries most of the NOW products and shipping is generally free. If you sign up for auto deliveries the prices are cheaper too.

I am a amazon prime member.Its $75 a year shipping.I order cases of flour and black soy beans.Really heavy stuff so it pays off quick!I do 95 % of my internet shopping there.

Umpa you & Doug must have quite a large pantry to hold all of this stuff you buy in bulk, LOL!!  Do you cart it back and forth between Florida and NC?

Once I have the unblanched almond flour in my house, I'm going to experiment with making my own in the Vita-Mix...that way I can see ingredients, and texture, etc......

It would be really cool to be able to buy my almonds in bulk and make my own....

First, welcome to our FTS forum family, LauriC50! 

If you own a decent food processor, you should be able to grind up almonds to a very fine (flour) consistency.
To get almonds to grind down to a flour takes a while. And your food processor will get very warm.

To preserve my food processor's motor, I opt to my my almond flour.

I made Umpa's coconut cake.  I make it as mini muffins instead of cake.  They were delish, delish.  Even though they stuck to the pan, I just scraped them into a bowl.  I figure one spoonful, one carb.  What a great recipe.  I will try the cake next time.  I could not find unsweetened coconut so I bought one.  That was a joke.  I thought I was going to break the cabinet with the ice pickk and hammer.  My husband finally took it outside and broke it for me.  Then there was the scraping.  Whew, it was a workout.  I got my Now almond flour from Netrition.  I also got the spicy pasta sauce from there and it is really, really good.  I use it with the Miracle Noodles.  My shipping was a flat $4.95 for whatever I ordered.  I got a whole box of stuff for $4.95 shipping.  I will have to check Amazon as well.

 Schitzumom no we don't.I like to have a well stocked pantry.We don't eat out alot(because doug is such a wonderful cook), and we entertain every week.I like a good deal!
SuzyQ i only buy teflon baking pans and use non stick cooking spray like pam.If I am out I use cupcake liners.
