Diverticulitis anyone???
« on: March 07, 2011, 10:10:55 AM »
I have been hospitalized for Diverticulitis in the past year and have been on a high fiber diet, and on stool softeners ever since.  Is this program going to be the lifestyle change for me or should I look to another type of diet??  :-\

I think you'll be OK if you stay away from all seeds, get your fiber from low carb sources (plenty of info here) and drink lots of water. My Mom has Diverticulitis and she has no problems on the program if she follows the above rules.

Welcome fatrichie!I am umpa ,dougs  wife.If I can help you please ask.I have a column on the home page called ask umpa where I can convert your favorite foods to fat to skinny friendly. I am very familiar with Diverticulitis .There are several people in our family that have it. You will do fine with fat to skinny.I don't know if you have ever tried belladonna for your Diverticulitis episodes, but it works. You can get a prescription from your doctor or get it from any quality health food store.Get the pills and not the tablets that melt under your tongue . :)

LOL!!  I had never heard of belladonna before so I googled it and the first answer wikipedia gives is belladonna is the name of an American pornographic actress.  Just thought I would give you your daily chuckle.

Welcome to the family, fatrichie!  :) :) :) :) :) :)

If you follow the rules of the FTS lifestyle, your user name "fatrichie" will no longer fit you.  ;)

Thanks all!  You'll have to help me come up with a new User name later.   The only one I've been able to come up with is "Skinny D^$K" (being a Richard and all!  I don't think I want that one either!

I've been called Fat Richie since before I was fat.  I used to be 5'10" and 165lbs at 25.  I started out here at 5'10" and 350 lbs and I'll be fifty this year!
