Not losing weight
« on: April 25, 2010, 07:14:29 PM »
Saw on 700 Club.  Downloaded book & read quickly at computer.  Made list & bought food to cook ahead, but got called on traveling job.  Have resorted to just trying not to eat ANY carbs till able to study further.  ONLY HAVE EATEN:

BF:          Eggs, cheese w/ mushrooms, green veggies, h-burger bits; coffee w/saccharin & whole cream, or
Waffle house omlet & sausage; coffee w/ S&L and half & half
LUNCH &:  Steak or fish & grilled muchrooms, or
SUPPER:    Good salad bar w/ meat, boiled eggs, cheese, green veggies, bleu cheese or olive oil, or
Chicken breasts that I boiled then seasoned w/ lemon pepper & garlic powder, or
Zaxby wings plain w/ bleu cheese dressing, or
                More eggs same as breakfast
Also:  Pork rinds & almonds.  Salad dressings 4 carbs or less.  SF Jello w/whipped cream.  Water w/ splash of tea
w/saccharin.  Egg salad OR tuna in water w/ olive oil mayo & pork rinds.
Body seems slimmer, but NO weight loss ON SCALE 2 WEEKS NOW.   Am doing some excerise at gym and Wii

Re: Not losing weight HELP, PLEASE!!! TY
« Reply #2 on: April 25, 2010, 08:02:23 PM »
TY... it was actually Peanut Butter cups... not bars.  Carb 18, Fiber 5, Sugars 0, Sugar alcohols 11.   I had two servings and put them away.  They are good, but I am stuck.  I think I'm being careful at the salad bars.  If in doubt, green... not starchy... and plain olive oil.  Since traveling, perhaps I am eating too much.  Have not been limiting ounces of meat or cheese.  Just throw cheese onto eggs when cooking.  Thought fat was not an issue.  My body does actually seem not so bumpy and pants are looser.  Worked out like crazy at gym yesterday and just thought finally there would be success on scale.  TY for your help.  I really want to get going in the right direction and am studying every label before making any purchase.  The 700 Club show gave me hope and a desire to lose for the first time in a long time.  TY

Be patient, stay the course, read every label, stay under 20 carbs per day, pay attention to portions by following the 15 minute rule in the book, only eat when you are truly hungry and please....don't be hard on yourself. The weight will come off....keep us posted!  :)

Re: Not losing weight..... ohhhh..... got it, i think

Okay.  It's so late.  Stopped working, but wasn't tired, so watched TV.  Realized I snack at night.  Not lots.  Used to be a piece of 40 calorie bread and 25 calorie no fat cheese slice.  Now it is a few almonds, or cheese, or chicken breast with cheese melted over it or mayo/mustard sauce.  So I am an absent-minded snacker late night.

Can I substitute so as to have something to chew on?  I like cauliflower raw, for instance, and one can chew on that for a pretty good while and it has few calories and I think few carbs.  A lotta times I work late at night and just need unwind time to be able to go to sleep.

Any suggestions, or is this just something I have to find a way to stop?

Thank you very much.

Well, lets chat about it. If you're eating because you're hungry it's different from eating because your bored. I mean true hunger, your belly growls and you recognize you actually need food. Be honest now because eating for any other reason is the same as putting fuel in your car when the tank is already full. The extra gas needs to go somewhere.  For me the "chewing problem" was resolved with sugar free gum and a big glass of water. Now if it is true hunger I've given you several snack trays in the recipe section of the book with more in the Cookbook. Veggie trays are one of the options and yes cauliflower is a great low sugar snack and fills you up quickly.

I also want you to think about tea. Sherri unwinds at night with a pot of hot tea. Celestial Seasonings have so many different flavors and many don't even require sweetener. Sleepytime is one of her favorites, no caffeine and very relaxing. The tea is hot so you drink it slowly helping with the hand to mouth habit, the liquid is filling so you have a good full feeling and the tea itself is a natural relaxant. You can carry tea bags with you on the road as well. Most of us who battle weight gain have some form of obsessive personalities, becoming obsessive with teas won't hurt you and it will be fun. Try to stay away from teas requiring sweeteners until we get a handle on your weight loss.

Don't worry together we'll find the plug and pull it!

Greaqt ideas.  especially the tea.  i'm just wanting a cup of coffee every night, but keep forgetting to get decaf, so don't have any.  that warm tummy thing helps put me to sleep.  will definitely try tea.  and the hand to mouth thing is also a great revelation.  was especially careful today and learned i was devouring breath mints, which the first ingredient was sugar.  i thought they were sugar free.  got some individually wrapped mints that are sugar free to drop in my purse for those times when i feel my breath is less than "fresh."  made two large quiches, mostly veggies, no crust, egg beaters and some ham, and have cut them into pieces and frozen them.  went to the salad bar again today and reinvestigated the dressings.  raspberry vinagrette... the first ingredient is sugar.  it said 6 carbs, 6 sugar alcohols, but i decided to go with olive oil mixed with one teaspoon of catalina & vinegar just to give it some flavor.   tweeking, i think that's what's happening.  learning every day.  down one lb this morning, but did not do the gym.  will be sure to hit it tomorrow.  it is gtting easier.  thank you for responding.  it is good to have someone to share this with.  thank you.

First of all you are very welcome, that's what all of us are here for to help each other. Secondly I want to comment on your discoveries about breath mints, raspberry vinaigrette and tweeking. SUGAR is hiding around every corner. We all must learn to spot it and remove it. I remember when Beebs was stuck and couldn't drop weight. Then she realized she was drinking juice every day. She cut the juice out and over 25 pounds is history.

FIND THE SUGAR.......LOSE THE WEIGHT

i've only lost 5 lbs in the 2 or 3 weeks I've been doing this.  It is frustrating when it seems everyone around me is losing at a much faster rate.  It makes me say "whats wrong with me" I started going to the gym again this week, been doing cardio everyday.  I hate working out, it is so boring and repetitive, but I guess I'm just gonna have to do it, or nothing is going to happen.  I haven't been able to bring myself to do weights yet, thats even more boring and repetitive than cardio! I hate naturally thin people!!! LOL

I hate "exercise for the sake of exercise" too. I was thinking, though, that if you found something you enjoy, it might be better for you. Do you like swimming? Or maybe get a friend to walk at a park with you? Perhaps you like to window shop (and unlike me, live closer than 2 hours from a mall), you could walk in a mall. Tennis? Playing with dogs? Dancing?

Also, if you're like me, don't answer these questions if you're in a bad mood. I'd say NO to everything if I was in one of my moods...which I could easily slip into! LOL
