NUTS & SEEDS
Item Calories Protein(g) Fiber(g) Fat(g) Net Carbs(g) Total Carbs(g)
2.00 tbs Almond Butter  203 4.8 1.2 18.9 5.6 6.8
2.00 tbs Almonds, slivered  102 3.5 1.6 8.6 1.7 3.3
2.00 tbs Almonds, whole  106 3.7 2.2 8.9 1.4 3.6

I am confused Doug's book said 30 almonds= 3.2 carbs (I think..I am at work now).  This chart shows just 2tbs 3.6 carbs.  30 is a lot more then 2 tbs no??  Help!

Hi Beth! :)

The carb count depends on the size of the nuts you eat.
Like most nuts, almonds vary in size. This can be misleading and can lead to "carb creep".

Many of us here, from a lifetime of conditioning, tend to "maximize" our servings.
In this case, selecting all large almonds would result in a higher carb count (i.e. carb creep).

The best way to measure is either by weight or amount (in ounces).
Two ounces (in weight) of almonds has just about 4 net grams.

Thanks. What type of tool do you buy to measure ounces?
I think my old kitchen scale is junk!

Hi Beth!

I bought my digital scale from Amazon.com.

It's called an EatSmart Precision Pro Kitchen Scale.
With shipping, it cost about $40. But it's VERY accurate (to within 5/100 oz.).
