Dinner tonight...
« on: April 16, 2011, 09:27:09 PM »
My husband and I had dinner tonight at Ruby Tuesdays.  I knew they had mashed cauliflower on the menu, but I was happy to see that they now have grilled zucchini, spaghetti squash, asparagus, and steamed broccoli as sides.  Eating out seems to get easier all the time!  Never thought I'd see the day I would get excited over veggie choices!  lol

I find eating out is never an issue, there are plenty of choices and if you don't see what you want most wait staff can arrange a plate for you if you speak up and explain your needs. I'm happy to see some of the larger chains putting low carb choices n the menus.  ;)

I have yet to go to a restaurant that I couldn't eat well in. Chinese is tricky but can be done. ;)

I'm noticing more and more restaurants are offering low carb choices.

Lately, it seems that low carb eating has been getting more popular.
I hope it stays that way for long time... America NEEDS it desperately!!!

What's the best way? Asking for sauces on the side? I love Chinese food and miss it so much. I miss it not because of FTS, but because I moved to Montana. :D :D :D There's supposed to be a decent place about a half hour from here that I've been wanting to try. But now that I'm on FTS, I'm not sure what to order.

Jan -- That's great the restaurant has more choices. We don't have a Ruby Tuesdays here, sadly.

Hi Rena! :)

Also, be sure to tell them that you don't want MSG!
Many Chinese restaurants are notorious for using the poisonous stuff. :P

Thanks, Umpa. At least it's not a huge issue for me now, especially with not having many good Chinese places to choose from. I guess that works to my advantage. :D We do make chicken & broccoli every now and then. Last time we added diced jicama and a few peanuts. It takes care of the Chinese food craving, but I do miss fried rice and egg rolls.

Thanks, Tony -- fortunately, MSG has never bothered me. I know the restaurant we used to eat at stopped using it in a lot of their dishes, which was good.

Thank you for this information! Now I can go out to dinner and not feel like I'm missing something.
