Shopping ...

I've been in a real >:( mood lately because of clothes. The :) part is that I've lost 5 more pounds since I started keeping track of my food intake. My 'goal' has been to fit into some of my old clothes that I've been saving since the mid-90s. But as we're talking about in some other threads, some of those old clothes are just way too high waisted. By the time the waist fits me, the rear and front is really baggy.

We're going to Disney World next month and I've been putting off buying any new clothes because I wanted to fit into my old ones. That wasn't happening -- at least not in the right bodily places. Since I'm such a tightwad, I went to the Salvation Army and tried on a bunch of shorts today. I'm happy to say I bought 6 pairs of really cute shorts ... that are in style even! :D I also got 8 tank tops to mix & match with them. For everything, I spent about $38. Had I gone to a regular store, I might have been able to get 1 or 2 pairs at the most. And, if I lose more weight and these become too big on me, I'm not out as much. I still have to splurge on a new swimsuit. Mine looks idiotic because it's so baggy.

However, the best part of this long, boring story is that I was finally able to shop in the misses section and not the women's. I haven't done that in years! And to top it off, everything I tried on FIT or was too big! I was wearing a size 14 jeans today and all the shorts I bought are 12s, some closer to 11. If I lose more weight before my trip, I could get into an 11 or maybe even 10, but I didn't want to take any chances of not having anything to wear as the trip gets closer. It was just a really good feeling to be able to try something on and have it fit well.

:)  :)  :)  :)

You are getting so close to your goal.  I am so happy for you!  It is time for you to invest in a belt.

What a DEAL Rena!   I am a thrifty shopper too!  We have a neat little consignment shop here in town that I love!  I got a pair of black Liz Claiborne jeans last week for $6.  Good deals put me in a good mood! ha ha

I love thrift stores! I wear the clothes then donate them back when they are too big or I don't want to wear them anymore! ;) ;)

During my weight loss I was in and out of the Goodwill and Salvation Army stores every two weeks! What I had bought just two weeks earlier was brought back and re-donated as I bought a smaller size.  :o

No sense in spending money at pricier stores when you know your size is constantly changing.

When you reach your goal, you can treat yourself to more expensive clothes.
Until then, don't waste your money!
Use the savings buying low carb foods and recipe ingredients. ;)

Thanks, everyone. I went again and got two pairs of capris. One of them was a petite size and it actually FIT me! I have NEVER worn anything in a petite size!

I took clothes in to donate too, and have another bag waiting to go. Some of the ones in this bag were big, baggy clothes I got from the thriftstore in the first place. I'm sending them home.  :D

I was also able to find my bathing suit top in a smaller size, so I took the bigger one back and made an exchange. I can't remember the last time I had to get a size smaller, not larger.  :)

Whoa. I bought 2 new bras today and they're 2 sizes smaller than my old ones.

This might not be a big deal to some, but it is to me. I can finally shop in the regular department when it comes to stuff like this. No more PUP TENT BRAS!  ;D

Although I can't relate to the bra thing... It comes down to the pleasure we feel buying "normal" size clothes.
That's universal!!! ;D ;D ;D
