liquid eggs (carton)
« on: May 17, 2011, 11:55:01 AM »
So it seems liquid egg whites, or liquid eggs, the kind bought in a carton at the supermarket have almost double the carbs of real eggs. Am I calculating this right? If so, time to go back to whole eggs.

Carton eggs/egg whites = 1 carb per 1/4 cup (equal to one egg?)

Regular eggs = .6 carbs per egg ?

Hi F2S-Awesome! :)

According to the USDA's nutrition website, one large egg (white AND yolk) has 0.36 net carbs.
And Doug figures 1.0 each.
I use Doug's number... I figure it's FAR better to overestimate than underestimate carbs eaten.

With prepackaged foods (like liquid eggs), check the nutrition labels as they may add things that may bump up the carb count.
Consider that whole eggs are much cheaper too!... This is why I like eggs the way they left the hens! ;)

Yes, 1/4 cup equels 1 egg and for simplicity I count each 1/4 cup or each whole egg as 1 carb.
