Oh cool -- thanks so much for looking them up!
Huckleberries are huge here. We have everything huckleberry. They are SO good. No wonder they're the favorite food of bears. You're in the NW, so are they big there too?
4 carbs per 1/4 -- I can handle that!
Hi Rena!
Ripe blackberries are EVERYWHERE around here in late August and through September.
Virtually, every rural road around here get lined with them.
You could go out and fill a 5 gallon bucket with them in a couple of hours!
We also have them on our property.
They are considered a "weed" in this area because there are so many of them and they grow so fast.
Plus, next to cactus, they must be the prickliest plants alive with big gnarly thorns!
And, they're VERY tough to kill!
If you don't kill the ENTIRE plant, they will come back 2-3 times larger in just a few weeks!
If I did not like to eat the berries so much, they would drive me crazy!
We also have hucks around about that time. But there are no where near as many!
I love hucks too!!!
