FTS Corn Dogs / Pups
« on: June 21, 2011, 02:16:38 PM »
I adjusted my cornbread recipe a bit

5 Hotdogs
1/4 cup almond flour
1/4 cup Flax mill
1 egg
1 Tablespoon Heavy Cream
1 Tablespoon water
2 Tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder

Mix wet ingreidents then add dry . Have your grease hot in the skillett or fryer, this was enough batter for 5 hot dogs . I cut them into 3 or just in half .
I grilled my dogs a bout half cooked before I dip them in the batter ,you have to work a little to make the batter stick ,maybe it would have stuck better if the dogs were not cooked . I mixed a little water if the batter got to thick as I was doing it . They were very good and it has been over a year since I had a corndog . Now I can have a FTS corndog whenever I want !!!!!!

I wonder if these would work with just flaxmeal. I really don't like how almond meal tastes. That's weird in itself because I love just about everything else almond flavored.

They turned out great, Jo!

Hi Jo! :)

Try mixing the the two.
You'll get fewer carbs that way.

Wow Jo those look good!!

I was just saying in the other post that I wondered if the batter would hold up in the greese.  I will try this for sure!!!  Mine came out great but I was thinking the whole time that it would be really good if it was crispy  ;D ;D

Great minds think alike right??  LOL  ;D ;D

These sound really good. My daughter begs for corn dogs every time we go past the deli counter in the grocery store. If I could make these at home and they taste as good...Oh we BOTH would be happy! Is there a carb count on them?

Hey Barbara the mix is only 2 carbs for all of it , so what ever your hotdogs are is really all you can count my hotdogs were 1 carb so I counted each dog as 1.5 carbs
