I use a Bowflex TreadClimber, which helps in winter when it's too cold to get out and walk. Rick bought a recumbent bike awhile back so he could exercise without putting a lot of strain on his back. He has a slight spinal fracture that's taking forever to heal. Sadly, he doesn't make time to use it as much as he did, but I've been using it so it's not being wasted. It's great to sit on that and watch a 30 minute sitcom or something. The time goes by fast and it gives a really good work-out. You can find them for decent prices too, which I can't say for the Bowflex. Think we're still paying for that thing.

Rena, do you think the bowflex was worth the money?  Do you feel you burn more and get a better workout then you would on a treadmill?  I was thinking about getting one for the winter when our treadmill dies.

YES! I had a treadmill before and loved that. The TreadClimber is so different though and it took me awhile to get to where I could do it easily. I just changed my settings last night, so I guess I'm getting used to it. But yeah, I'd say it was worth it. They cost and arm and a leg, but I love mine. I got the cheapest one they made, so it doesn't have anything fancy on it.
