Went to the new Olive Garden that just opened up recently here in town. I ate 2 bowls of salad before my entree came out. I ordered, like friend Jan did recently, the chicken scampi in garlic sauce over some yellow squash, zuchinni, bell pepper, and onion. I told the waiter I wanted these veggies instead of the usual angel hair pasta that is served with it. I did eat "half" a bread stick. I wonder how many carbs was in that half of bread stick??? :-\  My husband had the exact same dish as me. He did eat a whole bread stick to my half.  :o Going to plan my menu out tomorrow for the upcoming week so I can get to the grocery store. Thanks again everyone for all your help!  ;D

26 carbs in the breadstick (whole one) It also says the salad is 19 carbs for a serving which I guess is one plate .  So just your half of a breadstick and 1 plate of salad was like 32 carbs  The carbs in the salad seem high to me but I am not sure what they put in them and what is in the dressing .

Then you had the carbs in the veggies I would think the dinner was well over 40 carbs , but it happens some times just got to move on and do better .  ;D

Sugar alcohols will burn before fat. There are better choices to take the edge off.Sugar alcohols is what stalls 99% of people.Try a protein bar, some nuts, peanut butter or a soy protien shake. ;)

I do remember hearing or reading (possibly Doug's book!) regarding the fact that sugar alcohols will burn first instead of fat. I will limit the hard candies and the Russell Stovers sugar-free candies to once in a while and instead I will load up on nuts instead. Gary and I both LOVE nuts of all kinds, especially almonds. Matter of fact I will put a big bag of them in my bookbag for school next week to snack on. Of course I suppose that it is still better for the body to burn it's own fat rather than putting even more in the body even though it's a good protein source. Goes back to the everything in moderation rule. Thanks umpa for the reminder!  ;D

Hi gpod97! :)

For many of us, water is an acquired taste and it becomes it's own habit.
I miss water VERY quickly after a couple of hours of not having it.
It might take you a few weeks, but try to make water a big part of what enters your body.

We are fortunate as we have a well very close to our property that is also shared with 5 other adjacent properties.
The water from it tastes fantastic!

If your tap water does not taste very good, buy one of those water purifier pitchers and keep it filled in your fridge.

My doctor once told me that even very mild dehydration can stop weight loss cold.
And even possibly cause weight gain from bloating (i.e. cell water retention).

Water is very important to our general health.
It flushes out toxins before they have a chance to make us sick.
It also flushes out "burnt" fat (ketones) which, in turn, helps the metabolism burn even more FAT.
What you do today is what matters!

Great points mouseissue!  ;D My husband literally "craves" water. He easily drinks at least a gallon or more a day and has for years.   :o The benefits are really obvious in that it is very cleansing.  ;) It hasn't in anyway helped Gary with losing weight however.  :( He has been at FTS very diligently with me going on 7 weeks now, but no weight loss as of yet for me or even him.  :'( He is 6 feet tall and weights in at 330lbs. He's generally a big man anyway with a barrel like chest. When we were married 28 years ago he weighed somewhere between 180 and 200 pounds. He used to lift weights and even then drank lots of water. His colon ruptured about 3 or 4 years ago and he had to have emergency surgery. He was almost a goner. :o Fortunately he came through the surgery fine and only had to have a colostomy bag for 4 months then the doc was able to reverse it. :) Usually this isn't the case. We were both SO relieved!  ;D Anyway, since then he can no longer lift weights but still has a large chest size. He's turns 64 next month. :o He has always owned his own custom cabinet shop and has remained very hands on so his work his quite physical even now. This however is the extent of his physical activity. He doesn't enjoy even walking with me in the evenings or on weekends. :'( He prefers to hold his lazboy recliner done in front of the t.v. when he's home. :( I am keeping a food journal this week that I will be posting at weeks end. Hoping you all will be able to give me some insight as to why we haven't lost in what will be seven weeks.  ;D ;D ;D

It is simple gpod ;) You have to stay under 20 carbs per day and you will lose weight. There are no pig out days you are going for consistency. If you are over 20 you will not lose as fast.If hubby is under 20 carbs a day the weight should be flying off.Post your food intake and we will help, but every bite counts, choose wisely. :) If I can help please ask
